Robbie Amell sports some scruff during an appearance on Extra with his Tomorrow People co-star Peyton List on Monday afternoon (October 7) in Universal City, Calif.
The 25-year-old actor recently opened up about how he originally read for the role of John, which eventually went to Luke Mitchell.
“I first auditioned for John and I wished that I was auditioning for Stephen because I had read the script and I just related much more to that character,” Robbie told Access Hollywood. “I like [the] origin story of this kid, very normal kid, used to have a good life and a great family and friends and then everything was pretty much stripped from him and he doesn’t know why or what’s going on, so it seemed like a really fun character to start from scratch and go on this incredible journey and finding out he has superpowers and living in this incredible world while still staying grounded and being a normal kid and finding my way through it.”
Star Peyton List, 27, plays Cara, recently spoke with press about playing the female leader of the outcast tribe.
“I’ve never done a series where I’ve had this much responsibility in terms of carrying so much. But I’m also enjoying doing it,” she shared. “I can’t say it’s completely foreign, because I have done other shows. But it is definitely a new experience for me in terms of anything I’ve done in my career.”
Peyton added, “You sometimes can read a pilot script and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I love the show, but I hate the character, I want to be a part of it, but I don’t want to play this person.’ But this role was like the perfect circumstance. It’s a character you fall in love with and you’re like, ‘I want to play this character, and I don’t care if the story’s bad.’ I got the best of both worlds with this role, and that’s why I just fell in love with it immediately.”
The Tomorrow People premieres Wednesday, October 9th @ 9PM ET/PT.
