Exciting news for Sofia Carson‘s upcoming movie adaptation, Purple Hearts!
It was just announced that the film, based on the novel of the same name by Tess Wakefield, has been acquired by Netflix, according to Deadline.
In addition, Nicholas Galitzine has joined the cast as the male lead, opposite Sofia.

Sofia Carson and Charles Melton are starring in a new movie together!
The Descendants actress and the Riverdale actor will play lovers in Purple Hearts, Deadline reports.
The new movie is adapted from the novel by Tess Wakefield, and follows aspiring singer-songwriter Cassie and military man Luke, who in spite of their apparent differences, fall hopelessly in love.
Sofia will not only star in the movie, but she’s also set to write and perform original music for the film.
“Purple Hearts provides hope that two people with such differing world views, stuck in the same place, forced to fight the same fight, might be able to learn a little about each other’s beliefs, get over their own bullshit, start to understand each other and just maybe fall in love. It’s a very timely, emotional story – truly a romance for the ages,” director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum said in a statement.
This is the second movie that Sofia will co-star with a Riverdale actor. She filmed Songbird earlier this year alongside KJ Apa. Check out the trailer here!
