The 'Liv & Maddie' Showrunners Can't Wait For What's Next With Their Stars

There’s something about watching the stars of Liv and Maddie really grow up on screen…and it’s even more powerful for showrunners John D. Beck and Ron Hart.

The two are looking forward to whatever life is bringing to Dove Cameron, Joey Bragg, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, and everyone from the show.

“The thing we’ve been loving so much, since the show wrapped filming last year, is watching our alumni go on to do pretty amazing things,” they shared with JJJ.

Dove, doing Hairspray Live and Descendants 2…we always knew that she was going to be a megastar. Ryan, did Rocky Horror Picture Show. Jordan killing on Broadway. Joey on Criminal Minds and All American Summer; Chloe is all over the place now. It’s just been really fun to watch and it’s cool to watch them take off.”

John and Ron added, “I don’t know if that counts as a project [for us], but watching them has been everything.”

The Liv and Maddie series finale airs FRIDAY, March 24th @ 5:30PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.

The Liv & Maddie Showrunners Picked Out Their Favorite Episodes (& Its All of Them!)

The ‘Liv & Maddie’ Showrunners Picked Out Their Favorite Episodes (& It’s All of Them!)

John D. Beck and Ron Hart can not make up their minds one bit!

The Liv and Maddie showrunners have so many favorite episodes that they can’t pinpoint just one that they love the most.

“A lot of episodes come to mind. ‘Rate-A-Rooney‘ comes to my mind first, everyone loved that. The story was so powerful with the rating female body image. There was Joey and Parker splitting up their room there too,” John shared off the top of his head.

He continues, “The pilot, the season three finale, Patty Duke, ‘Space-Werewolf-A-Rooney’… and the series finale too. ‘Voice-A-Rooney’ is extremely powerful…I really didn’t think we could do better than the season three finale…”

However, he does love the series finale a lot.

“When we get to ‘End-A-Rooney’, everyone around were just very satisfied with it, and we’re hoping that our incredible fan base feels the same way. We try to answer as many questions that have been brought up throughout the series and give everyone a nice, emotional goodbye to a family they’ve spent the last four years with.”

“I have such a hard time separating them,” Ron admits, but it looks like he’s on board with John about the finale.

“I think that the way the series does ends for me was just so satisfying, personally and emotionally, that it really stands out as my favorite.”

How Dove Cameron Found The Perfect Co-Stars in Emmy Buckner and Shelby Wulfert

How Dove Cameron Found The Perfect Co-Stars in Emmy Buckner and Shelby Wulfert

To make one girl into two, it takes three girls.

A saying that’s been on the set of Liv and Maddie since the beginning, Ron Hart and John D. Beck talked with JJJ about the search to find them and just how perfect they were with Dove.

Emmy and Shelby were such a huge part of this show and the mastermind behind creating the twin look was Andy Fickman, our executive producer,” the show-runners tell us.

“He went project by project where actors had played two roles and how they produced it. There are all sorts of computer graphics wizardry that they do on Orphan Black, but at the end of the day, what was going to work for us on a multi camera show, week by week, was the exact same technology that they did on The Patty Duke Show.”

Both girls, who went on to become Linda and Heather in episode for another show within the show, had a very weird audition process too.

The Final Liv & Maddie Episodes Will Have You in Tears

The Final ‘Liv & Maddie’ Episodes Will Have You in Tears

We think we’re prepared for the final two episodes of Liv and Maddie…think, being the optimal word.

The final episodes of the Disney Channel series start next Friday and who are we kidding?

We’re NOT ready…and all because showrunners John D. Beck and Ron Hart said this:

“There are a lot of tear-jerking moments that are coming.”

However, it’s not all tear-jerking, they promised: “There’s a lot of fun as well, we always try to balance out the drama with the comedy but we deal with some pretty heavy stuff. I think everyone is going to be pretty satisfied with where the show lands after.”

John and Ron add, “At the end of the third season, we didn’t know if Liv and Maddie was going to continue, so we treated like that was the series finale.”

They added, “We went big with everything then — we made Liv a superhero, we destroyed the house…this time though, we knew for sure it was going to end. We went towards the emotion this time and we think it really is a satisfying, sentimental ending.”

One thing they both say about the finale though — Dove Cameron is spectacular in them.

Dove is exceptionally talented and she gave some of her best performances at the end of the series.”

====================================

The second part of the three-part series finale story, “Voice-A-Rooney”, will feature a Live Play experience powered by iPowow that will include live trivia and poll questions with real time results during the East and West Coast premiere telecasts.

The next day, you can watch the Liv and Maddie takeover weekend from Saturday, March 18 to Sunday, March 19, where almost every episode from the past four seasons will air on Disney Channel.
