Rose McIver has a very real fear and honestly, it’s pretty understandable.
The iZombie star opened up about it during her appearance on Harry Connick Jr.‘s show, airing Monday, May 8.
“My biggest fear is also my greatest love, which makes it pretty complicated,” Rose said. “It’s the ocean. I grew up in New Zealand on the water so I have a simultaneous admiration for it but also I’m aware of how many lives it claims. I’m pretty edgy in the water. I’m on high alert.”
Rose continued, “As my mom proudly states, I sink like a stone when I swim, she’s like, ‘You are rubbish, you are really not a strong swimmer.’ I have a healthy respect for the ocean that comes with fear.”
To become Liv Moore on iZombie, Rose McIver has to go through a ton of steps.
There’s a wig, hairsprays, primers, pale makeup, eye makeup…almost everything you can think of to mimic a zombie look, is what Rose has to go through.
“It takes about an hour and a half to get into the zombie look and to get the airbrushing and the makeup and the wig and everything,” she revealed during a stop at Amazon’s Style Code Live.
She adds, “It is a lot to take out everyday. So we use like oil-based things, it’s very drying makeup that I wear. Actually underneath we have to put hair sprays and things to hold my hair flat, my hair gets really dry too. So moisture masks are basically my thing.”
Rose dished on just what masks she does use to protect her skin and hair after all that makeup.
“Glam Glo do this really great moisture masks. Kerastase deep conditioning masks for the hair that just like save it,” she shares. “Then during the early mornings I use Skin Iceland, those products. They’re fantastic. The under eyes, they are life savers.”
BRB, buying all these products right now, because Rose‘s skin is flawless!
iZombie‘s Liv and Major will forever be one of our favorite couples on television.
Ever since their broken engagement in season one, we’ve been rooting for them…so will there be anything happening this season?
“There are some treats in there for Liv and Major shippers – that I will promise,” Rob Thomas shared with EW about the couple.
But, let’s not hold our breaths, because he also said this: “Major has a couple different love interests in the season.
“One I would describe as good for him, one I would describe as not so healthy. And as does Liv.”
Looks like they’re looking for others this season.
Rob adds, “Suddenly, she went from there being no zombie men for her to choose from in the world to there are a couple hundred very fit young zombie soldiers. So yeah, the world has opened up for Liv’s love life. So they both have love lives this season, and they certainly have their moments together as well, but this is not a big year for them dating.”
For iZombie, Rose McIver doesn’t just play one character. — she actually plays a ton!
Like a cop, or a stripper, or JJJ‘s fave, the grumpy old man.
For the new season, Rose had to research a dominatrix and it almost got her in trouble at the airport!
“For things like this season, I ate the brain of a dominatrix. It was very interesting to research,” Rose explained during her appearance at Build Series.
“I was sitting at the airport on a flight back from LA to Vancouver and I was typing in like ‘Dominatrix Documentaries’ on YouTube,” she shared, adding, “I remember these things just started popping up and people with young families were sitting around behind me. I was sort of trying to convince them that I wasn’t a creepy pervert.
“I was like researching a role guys, it’s work,” Rose says, “There can be some very interesting situations that arise with researching for this character.”
At the end of season two of iZombie, there was something about the “zombie homeland”…do you remember that?
So, what exactly is a “zombie homeland” and what does it actually mean for the new season, kicking off next week?
“The zombie homeland sort of speaks to the fact that there are a lot more zombies in Seattle than Liv was aware of,” Rose McIver shares with EOnline. “It becomes more of a zombie show in some ways.”
She adds, “Our zombies still aren’t exactly the zombies you’ve seen before, but there’s a lot more of us, and so the threat of how these two communities might or might not integrate is kind of what plays out over the season.”
Rose is also pictured doing some press at SiriusXM and Build Series in New York City for iZombie‘s new season.
