Sage Kotsenburg and Erin Hamlin step on stage to accept their awards during the 2014 U.S. Olympic Committee’s Best of U.S. Awards held at Warner Theatre on Wednesday night (April 2) in Washington, D.C.
The gold medalists picked up the Male and Female Athlete of the Winter Games!
“This is unreal,” Erin shared after accepting her award from Evan Lysacek. “Luge, like most of you know, isn’t the most popular sport…People know what it is now a little bit, I think. It’s a step in the right direction.”
Other winners include Noelle Pikus-Pace won Moment of the Olympics, the Sled Hockey Team won Team of the Paralympics, Alpine skiers Mark Bathum and Stephanie Jallen were named Male and Female Athletes of the Paralympics.
Other attendees include Joss Christensen, Gus Kenworthy, Devin Logan, Kaitlyn Farrington, Hilary Knight, Julie Chu and Mikaela Shiffrin and gymnast and summer Olympian Aly Raisman.

Sage Kotsenburg throws up some corna hand signs as he arrives at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on Tuesday afternoon (February 18).
“So that was fun… Hahaha @LateShow had a great time thank you sooo much for having me on there!!” the 20-year-old Olympic gold medalist tweeted after his appearance on Late Night with David Letterman.
Over the weekend, a stranger showed the ultimate act of kindness and handed over his own plane ticket for Sage to get home to his family. What a gift!
“A man gave me his ticket so I could get on a flight home to see my mom and dad tonight! Gregory Keller words can not describe! THANK YOU!!!” Sage wrote on Twitter in thanks to the kind man. “I only have 1 day with my parents at home too so I am extra excited I get to see them!!!!!”

Team USA is getting a head start on our medal count!
Sage Kotsenburg, Jamie Anderson and Hannah Kearney picked up some of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics‘ first medals over the weekend in Sochi, Russia.
Sage and Jamie took home the gold medals for the Men’s and Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, while Hannah grabbed the bronze in Ladies’ Moguls.
“WOW!! I just won the Olympics!! Bringing back the first Gold here to the USA! Love seeing all the support from everyone YOU RULE!!” Sage, 20, tweeted after the medal ceremony.
But Hannah wasn’t hugely happy with her bronze medal.
“Bronze feels at lot like a broken heart,” she tweeted, adding, “In better news, I contributed to the #TeamUSA medal count, I am healthy, and I believe that everything happens for a reason.”
