The 18-year-old gold medalist hit the dance floor for her first routine on Monday evening (September 20) in Los Angeles.
Suni has been partnered with Sasha Farber for the season, with the two’s first dance being a Jive.
One critique that she received was not to look down at the floor, as she was seen looking down during the routine quite a few times. During her package, she also dished that she cannot dance, even though people always assume that because she’s a gymnast that she can.
Suni and Sasha earned a total score of 28 out of 40, tying for second with Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten.
“Tonight is the night !!! I can’t believe it’s already here. I’m so excited for you all to watch my first dance and see who my partner is 💃 It’s going to be EPIC! @dancingabc,” Suni teased ahead of the show.
Quite a few of the DWTS couples are also returning to the ballroom this season, which include longtime pros Val Chmerkovskiy and Sasha Farber.
Celeb contestant JoJo Siwa will make history for the show by being paired up with a female pro. Her three favorites are Lindsay, Britt Stewart and Jenna Johnson, all of whom are on the list of pros this season. We can’t wait to find out who JoJo is paired with!

Exciting news for Sasha Farber and Emma Slater – they just became citizens of United States of America!
The Dancing With The Stars pros and couple shared their happy news on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (December 16).
“I’ve dreamed of this day ever since I was a little boy in Russia watching blockbuster movies. I came to America to try out for a show called @dancingabc and my whole life changed, I proposed to my beautiful wife @theemmaslater on the show , got married, bought our first house, rescued a dog, made so many incredible memories and so many new friends I call my family here in America, and now I get to call America my home !!! I’m so grateful for DWTS for believing in me and giving me a chance. WE ARE OFFICIALLY CITIZENS!!! Now it’s time to bring my mum and dad over to be with us thank you ❤️,” Sasha captioned a photo on his account.
“WE BECAME U.S CITIZENS TODAY! Wow. I can’t believe that I’ve been here for 8 years and it’s been the whirlwind it has,” Emma added on her account. “I’m so grateful, I could never have dreamt where my passion for dance has actually taken me. To the other side of the world from my English life which I also loved, for a wonderful show that changed my life, with a best friend who changed my life @sashafarber1. I remember when I did some smaller dance jobs in the UK when I was 17 and my friends & I would discuss whether the credits of these shows would ever help us get a visa to the US!! But being an actual Citizen of the US? Wow!! Urgh, I guess I’ll stay 😍❤️”
The couple, who have been together for almost 10 years and married for two, received an outpouring of love from their Dancing With The Stars family in the comments!
The day before, Emma revealed her new hair color on her Instagram page, and her friends are loving the change.
“I actually DID IT!! Rose Gold & Blush hair!! Ahhhhh I feel so light and fun! 🌸 What do you guys think??!!!! Created by the genius @kennedy_vandyke 🙏🏻,” she captioned a photo.
DWTS runner up Amy Purdy commented, “Ooh I love it!!” while judge Carrie Ann Inaba echoed that statement, “Love love love it!”

The 26-year-old entertainer and host was joined by a group of Dancing With The Stars pro dancers for the performance of the track from Hercules, which is being made into a live action film.
