Katherine McNamara Talks How 'Shadowhunters' Changed Her Life, Teases New Music!

Katherine McNamara is dishing on the effect that Shadowhunters has had on her life.

The 23-year-old actress, who of course played Clary on the hit show, opened up about the support from the cast and crew, and the fandom.

“I’ve never played a character for that long before, but getting to live in Clary’s shoes for the better part of four years and build those relationships, they took a life of their own, and that was part of the magic of shooting the last season and shooting the finale,” Katherine told ET. “I give so much credit to the fandom fueling us as we created this show. It became a team. They’re a part of the family.”

“I was cast in Shadowhunters when I was 19 on sort of a precipice of life and adulthood and a lot of changes in everything that is my existence,” she added. “And to be surrounded by a group of people on set and by a fandom that is so caring and so diverse and really helped shape me to the person that I am today. I’m 23 now and having come out of this show a completely different person, but undoubtedly for the better. And I have every single person that came into my life because of that show to thank for that. It’s something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

She also teased that she may be working on some more music!

“I’m constantly singing. I’m constantly making up songs as I go through my day,” Katherine said. “Now that I’m not fighting demons for 10 months a year, I have a bit more time on my hands and I’m going back to music because it’s something that I love. I love writing, I love singing my own music… Now that I have a bit more time I’m looking to put some more together, so keep an eye out.”

“Happy birthday to the short, red haired, bad tempered, not little girl, Clarissa Adele Fairchild Morgenstern Fray,” she wrote on Instagram. “I will forever be grateful for the priceless laughs, memories, and family she brought into my life as well as the personal, physical, and artistic growth.”

“Clary taught me that you can be strong and kick ass as well as be imperfect and vulnerable – lessons I reflect on every day,” Katherine continued. “She lives the legacy that ‘Heroes aren’t always the ones who win. They’re the ones who lose, sometimes. But they keep fighting, they keep coming back. They don’t give up. That’s what makes them heroes.’ Above all, because of Clary, I will always remember that love makes you stronger.”

“Love to you angels who have come on Clary’s journey with me. Let’s give a nod to our girl this #FrayFriday. #shadowhunterslegacy. X 🖤🧁” she concluded.

Katherine McNamara Is 'Eternally Grateful' For Experience on 'Shadowhunters' Set

Katherine McNamara Is 'Eternally Grateful' For Experience on 'Shadowhunters' Set

Katherine McNamara has shared a lengthy letter about her time on Shadowhunters.

The 23-year-old actress opened up with TV Guide as their valedictorian of the TV class of 2019.

Shadowhunters was a joy and a thrill, but it also presented new challenges,” she said. “It was baptism by fire, and I am so grateful to have those experiences and those people to shape me into the person and the artist I have become. I am simultaneously thrilled and pained to have had such a brilliant experience so early on in my career. I am eternally grateful as now I know the pinnacle of what family can mean on a set in this nomadic life we choose to lead.”

“I also, however, am well aware that this is not a typical situation, and that I very well may never experience this kind of magic and harmony ever again,” Katherine continued. “I will always cherish the memories, the laughs, the challenges, and every ounce of love I felt in making this show. I emerge from this series a woman on a mission — to take with me a bit of this rarified air, this lightning in a bottle, and bring a bit of that light to every endeavor moving forward.”

“At 19, I was challenged with the responsibility of not only being the lead of a show but enticing and enchanting a fandom who were extremely passionate and opinionated about this story and my character. So I set out to lead with professionalism, positivity, and a desire to learn as much as possible from those around me,” she added. “Looking back, I scarcely recognize the girl I was at 19, and I am ever grateful for the learning and growth that Shadowhunters brought. I must give the most immense thanks to the crew, the cast, the creatives, the writers, and everyone involved in the production team. We became a family, we took care of each other, we were in the trenches pushing each other to make the show better each and every episode.”

'Shadowhunters' Releases Hilarious Blooper Reel Following Series Finale!

'Shadowhunters' Releases Hilarious Blooper Reel Following Series Finale!

Shadowhunters is gone, but not forgotten.

The supernatural drama came to an end earlier this month after three seasons on Freeform, but there’s still some new material for fans to enjoy.

The Shadowhunters team released part one of the season 3B blooper reel on Friday (May 24) and it is hilarious.

Although the series in its current form is over, executive producer Todd Slavkin did give fans hope during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“What I wouldn’t rule out and what I don’t think is impossible is doing, like, a future movie,” he said. “Where you could get everyone together for a few weeks and do like a two-hour, or a four-hour, or a limited six-episode thing. Maybe with the same cast, but you never know. Weird things happen in today’s TV world.”
