The 18-year-old gold medalist hit the dance floor for her first routine on Monday evening (September 20) in Los Angeles.
Suni has been partnered with Sasha Farber for the season, with the two’s first dance being a Jive.
One critique that she received was not to look down at the floor, as she was seen looking down during the routine quite a few times. During her package, she also dished that she cannot dance, even though people always assume that because she’s a gymnast that she can.
Suni and Sasha earned a total score of 28 out of 40, tying for second with Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten.
“Tonight is the night !!! I can’t believe it’s already here. I’m so excited for you all to watch my first dance and see who my partner is 💃 It’s going to be EPIC! @dancingabc,” Suni teased ahead of the show.
The young women are among those who are being recognized as the most influential people in the world, and both of them are featured on one of the seven worldwide covers of the mag.

“I find reason for optimism… in our 18th annual TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people. It features extraordinary leaders from around the world working to build a better future, from entertainers striving to make Hollywood more inclusive to activists fighting for sustainability and human rights….They are disrupters, fixers, doers, iconoclasts, problem solvers—people who in a year of crisis have leaped into the fray,” Time CEO and editor in chief Edward Felsenthal said of this year’s list.
