Mike and Zach got a few pointers during the mentoring session with coach John Legend and guest mentor Ella Mai.
“We have certain expectations that this song needs to be delivered convincingly, and wow, you guys delivered it convincingly,” John told the guys after they took the stage. “Like, no doubt about it.”
After their performance, John made his decision to choose Mike Jerel to stay in the competition.
The 23-year-old from San Antonio, Tex., sang Juan Gabriel‘s “Así Fue” for her audition.
Though she loves R&B/Soul music, she also loves to sing Spanish music, and it definitely paid off.
With a four chair turn, Mandi had quite the decision to make and went with John Legend!
“Mandi I am beyond honored you chose me as your coach! I bet you sound amazing in any language! We all can’t wait to see what you do next! #TeamLegend #VoiceBlinds,” John wrote on Twitter.
“.@johnlegend I thought I had Mandi in the bag! You best be giving her some Mariah to sing. I’m not going to lie… a little jealous over here #VoiceBlinds,” Kelly Clarksontweeted at John.
The 28-year-old artist sang a slowed down, ballad of the hit song, which got a chair turn from John Legend.
“Brittney your vocals were amazing and the song choice was A+. You’re a perfect fit for #TeamLegend! #VoiceBlinds,” Johntweeted out after her audition aired.
“If only you had a coach with more awards and success to help you along the way,” Nick Jonas jokingly said after her performance.
The 22-year-old singer songwriter got a quick chair turn from Nick Jonas during her performance of “Light On” by Maggie Rogers.
Nick‘s turn was followed closely by John Legend, and eventually Kelly Clarkson as well. After her performance, Nick and John gave her a standing ovation.
“Wow wow wow super stoked to share with you guys this moment with you guys super stoked to be on team @johnlegend @NBCTheVoice,” Thunderstorm wrote on Twitter in celebration.
He also added a little thank you note to Nick.
“And thank you so much @nickjonas for the the amazing things you had to say it really meant a lot,” he said.
The 22-year-old singer belted out a rendition of The Weeknd‘s “Earned It”.
The day after he auditioned on the blinds, he celebrated his 22nd birthday. Before he made his choice between John Legend or Blake Shelton, the coaches and the audience sang him “Happy Birthday”.
