The Driver Era are getting candid about how being previously signed to a major record label helped shape what they are now.
The brother duo – Ross and Rocky Lynch – sat down and talked about their time with Hollywood Records as R5 and going the independent route with their new sound.
“When you sign to a label, they want to get hands on,” Ross told Alt Press. “They wanna be a part of the creative process. They wanted to be involved. [Our original songs] weren’t your typical pop-rock stuff.”
“And maybe that’s why [Hollywood Records] didn’t f–k with it so much,” Rocky added. “It ended up working out perfectly. Maybe because we were striving for this the whole time. Our minds were thinking about how we could get the music how we wanted it. We arrived there with the Driver Era.”
“Through this experience, we’ve now been signed to a major label. We know what that entails,” Ross said. “Because we’ve been in the industry now for 10-plus years, it’s great to know how to navigate it. To learn how to really trust ourselves and our own intuition. Because truthfully, if we were in that scenario again, it would probably turn out differently.”
“So there’s this Wiz Khalifa song,” Rocky added about going independent. “During the intro, he’s talking about the music industry, and he’s like, ‘Yo, this ain’t as easy as it looks… it’s easier.’ That’s how it feels with the Driver Era and being independent. There’s so much less bullsh-t.”
The Driver Era just surprised all their fans by dropping a brand new song!
Rocky and Ross Lynch released “Welcome to the End of Your Life”, just a few weeks after their most recent song, “Feel You Now”.
“‘Welcome to the End of Your Life’ sounds like a morbid title, but in actuality it’s meant to leave a positive impression on the listener,” Ross explains.
He adds, “Go live your life before it’s too late. Take that chance, ask her to dance.”

“I’ve been saying it’s the best tour yet,” Rocky explained.
Ross added, “It’s fun. We put this tour together on a whim but luckily, you know, our fans are really passionate and most of the dates sold out and we’ve been having a blast!”
The Driver Era‘s next show is June 22nd in Los Angeles.
Ross Lynch was trending on Twitter yesterday, but not because The Driver Era dropped their new music video – but because fans thought nude pics of him were out and floating around.
But that isn’t the case at all!
“I’m curious what these pictures are cause i’ve never seen them,” the 23-year-old Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor tweeted out about the supposed leak.
However, Ross turned it into the perfect opportutnity to promote the “Feel You Now” music video.
“Here’s my nudes,” he wrote with a link to the video.
“‘Feel You Now’ is about the struggle between your head and your heart. Fear or love,” Ross shared about the song. “A common topic of conversation for Rocky and myself.”
He added that “this is the song that our uncle Shor thinks is a f’n smash.”
The Driver Era will be releasing a new song in just a few weeks!
Brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch took to Instagram on Monday afternoon (March 11) to announce that their new song “Feel You Now” will be released on Friday, March 29.
