The CW Cancels 'Carrie Diaries,' 'Tomorrow People,' & 'Star-Crossed,' Picks Up 'The Flash' & 'iZombie

Good news – we have a slew of brand new shows coming to us this fall! Bad news is The CW just canceled three of our favorites!

The network has chosen not to renew The Tomorrow People, The Carrie Diaries, or Star-Crossed.

As for which shows will be introduced, the Arrow spin-off The Flash, Rob ThomasiZombie, apocalyptic drama The Messengers, and dramedy Jane the Virgin have all been given the green light. The highly-anticipated Supernatural spin-off Bloodlines was passed on.

Meanwhile, fan favorites Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie have each been picked up for another season.

'Tomorrow People' Season Finale Airs Tonight! Will You Be Watching?

Natalie (Leven Rambin) stands her ground beside The Founder (Simon Merrells) in this new still from an all-new The Tomorrow People.

In “Son of Man”, Russell (Aaron Yoo) realizes his alliance with The Founder was a mistake, and tries to make up for his decision by saving Cara (Peyton List) from an Ultra ambush. Stephen (Robbie Amell) understands that he must be the one to stop The Machine and the extermination of humanity, but he fears he may be too late.

Russell offers up a plan to help Stephen, but he is going to need everyone’s help, including John (Luke Mitchell) and Astrid (Madeleine Mantock), if they are going to have any chance to survive. Meanwhile, Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) offers John an interesting opportunity that could have them working together again.

“Son of Man” airs TONIGHT, May 5th @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

'Tomorrow People' EP Phil Klemmer Teases John's 'Terrible Decision' in Tonight's Season Finale!

'Tomorrow People' EP Phil Klemmer Teases John's 'Terrible Decision' in Tonight's Season Finale!

After last week’s earth-shattering episode of The Tomorrow People, JJJ‘s more than pumped for tonight’s season finale!

In case you missed it – spoiler alert – here are the highlights of what went down: Jedekiah (Mark Pelligrino) is officially a breakout! John (Luke Mitchell) lost his powers and kissed Astrid (Madeleine Mantock)! Oh, and Stephen’s (Robbie Amell) dad Roger is hooked up to a machine that can destroy the human race.

And those are just the bullet points!

We caught up with executive producer Phil Klemmer, who opened up about what we can expect in the finale, and what he has planned if the show gets picked up for a second season! Check it:

The Tomorrow People season finale airs TONIGHT, May 5 @ 9PM on The CW!

JustJaredJr: First of all, that episode last week was insane. It felt like a finale!

Phil Klemmer: In my experience, the penultimate episodes tend to be the best and then the finale, especially with The Wire and shows like that, the last one tends to turn out to be a bit of a letdown just because it’s just resolving everything you screwed up in the second-to-last episode. I promise you the craziness continues in our finale (laughs).

Will Stephen & Cara Give Up The Fight on 'The Tomorrow People'?

Will Stephen & Cara Give Up The Fight on 'The Tomorrow People'?

Stephen (Robbie Amell) and Cara (Peyton List) fake their surrender in this new still from The Tomorrow People.

In “Kill Switch,” when the Tomorrow People learn the truth about the serum they were injected with, Stephen and Cara attempt to buy time for Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) while he tries to create a possible antidote.

Growing impatient, Russell (Aaron Yoo) and the other rogue Tomorrow People make a rash decision to sacrifice Roger (Jeffrey Pierce) to Ultra for their own safety. Meanwhile, John (Luke Mitchell) is having a hard time figuring out his new role and the only one he can turn to for advice is Astrid (Madeleine Mantock).

“Kill Switch” airs TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Watching 'The Tomorrow People' (Like Right Now)

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Watching 'The Tomorrow People' (Like Right Now)

If JJJ had to pick one show that you may not be watching, but totally SHOULD be watching, it would be The Tomorrow People.

The CW freshman series, which stars Robbie Amell, Luke Mitchell, Peyton List, Aaron Yoo, Mark Pellegrino, and Madeleine Mantock, is currently on the bubble and it’s up in the air whether the show will be renewed or not.

Being big fans of the show, we came up with five reasons why you should tune in and catch up on the episodes before the season finale airs on Monday, May 5 @ 9PM!

1. The special effects
The Tomorrow People have the power of the three T’s – telepathy, teleportation, and telekinesis – which makes for some really cool special effects. And did we mention Stephen can stop time?

2. The guest stars
Jason Dohring played a bad guy, Alexa Vega played a badass, Serinda Swan rocked a British accent, and Leven Rambin is still mixing things up. Not to mention, Downton Abbey alum Dan Stevens serves as the voice of TIM, the TP’s artificial intelligence.

3. The shirtlessness
This one is pretty self-explanatory. But if you need proof, click here, and here, and here.

4. The couples!
First it was John and Cara, then Cara and Stephen, then back to John and Cara, then Stephen and Hillary, then John and Astrid (maybe), then…well, you get the point. This cast is steaming with chemistry and there’s so much story left to tell!

5. The creators
If you didn’t already know, the three creators – Julie Plec, Greg Berlanti, and Phil Klemmer – have resumes that are sure to boast some of your favorite shows, including The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Veronica Mars, Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, and Kyle XY. (We could go on.) So you know they have amazing things in store for a second season. Let’s make it happen!

TELL JJJ: What is your favorite thing about The Tomorrow People?

What Happens On Tonight's 'Tomorrow People'?

What Happens On Tonight's 'Tomorrow People'?

Robbie Amell doesn’t look all too happy in this new still from The Tomorrow People.

In tonight’s all new episode “A Sort of Homecoming,” with the possible return of Roger (Jeffrey Pierce) on the horizon, everyone is concerned about the consequences if The Founder (Simon Merrells) were to find out. Stephen (Amell) now knows the truth about the machine The Founder has been using him to train in and needs John (Luke Mitchell) and Cara’s (Peyton List) help to destroy it.

Meanwhile, Russell (Aaron Yoo) and other Tomorrow People have lost hope they will ever find The Refuge and choose to head out on their own.

“A Sort of Homecoming” airs TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.
