The 21-year-old actress joins the cast of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice as Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) daughter, Astrid, reuniting her with Wednesday producer / director Tim Burton, who returns to direct the sequel to his 1988 film.

Jenna Ortega and Joy Sunday are both first-time Emmy Awards attendees!
The Wednesday co-stars hit the carpet separately while arriving at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (January 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
In addition, Wednesday producer/director Tim Burton also stepped out, alongside his partner Monica Bellucci.
Both Jenna and Tim are nominated for their work on the show – Jenna for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Tim for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the episode titled, “Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe.” The series itself is also up for Outstanding Comedy Series.
While it’s taking place in 2024, this is actually the 2023 Emmy Awards show, which was scheduled to take place in September. The ceremony was delayed due to the Hollywood labor disputes, so it was added to the awards season calendar on a Monday night. The Emmys will air live on Fox with Anthony Anderson hosting the event. Jenna Ortega might be continuing her professional relationship with Tim Burton as she’s in talks to star in the sequel to his classic movie Beetlejuice.
The movie is in the works right now with a potential shoot happening this summer. Original star Michael Keaton is attached to return.
Jenna recently worked with Burton on the smash hit Netflix series Wednesday and a second season of the show has already been ordered.
“It’s been quite an insane experience,” Jenna told THR about working with Burton. “I’ve been lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with an iconic director who just so happens to be one of the sweetest directors I’ve worked with, and also the most detail-oriented.”

It’s finally official – Wednesday will be back for a second season!
Netflix teased the announcement late Thursday evening (January 5) before revealing the news the next morning.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar shared with Tudum. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

Tim Burton is dishing on what led him to his upcoming series Wednesday!
If you don’t know, the Addams Family-centric show is the legendary director’s first series that he’s directed. He also serves as an executive producer.
“I enjoyed doing this TV series, just because it was interesting to have a different pace, a slower kind of burn. But obviously for me, I still love movies. I still think there’s a place for movies these days,” he told Variety.
