Todrick Hall Calls Out Racists After Halle Bailey Gets Role as Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid'

Todrick Hall Calls Out Racists After Halle Bailey Gets Role as Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid'

There have been a ton of opinions all around social media since Halle Bailey was cast as Ariel in the upcoming live action adaption of The Little Mermaid.

Some are absolutely, 4567543% excited that Halle is the new Ariel (that’d be us), while others are fighting it and claim that Ariel just has to be a red head.

Todrick Hall took to his own social media, calling out haters for bringing this moment down when we would be bringing it up and celebrating.

“If they can CGI Margot Robbie’s face onto an Olympic figure skater’s rotating body, I think they can handle giving a black girl red hair. It could actually be beautiful, but either way, that seems like such a small detail to harp on,” he wrote on his Instagram with a gorgeous illustration.

Todrick continues, “I know it’s probably a hard concept to grasp, but this is how minorities have felt for the past thousand years and we’ve just had to deal with it. Fun fact for you also, There are over 60 Disney animated films and only 8 of them STAR people of any other race than white The Jungle book, Moana, Coco, Princess & the Frog, Pocahontas, Mulan, Aladdin, Lilo & Stitch so in the words of my good friend Taylor Swift…you need to calm down.”

“If they were to all of a sudden decide to do Cinderella and cast a man as Cinderella and have a gay prince, it would be ridiculous for people to fight and try to compare the representation because there has NEVER BEEN A GAY PRINCE. People were mad that Brandy was cast as Cinderella and guess what? She was great and the world moved on. I think we can give Halle Bailey a shot at finally being part of ‘your world’ you RACISTS.”

He also put his hat in for the role of Sebsatian: “ALSO, can I be Sebastian 🦀 Thanx bye”

Todrick Hall Gushes Over BFF Taylor Swift In New Story Time Video

Todrick Hall Gushes Over BFF Taylor Swift In New Story Time Video

Todrick Hall is dishing about how nice of a person and friend Taylor Swift really is.

In a new video, the entertainer shared a story of how she got him the most amazing jacket for his birthday, and the time she visited him when he was starring in Kinky Boots on Broadway.

“I just want to say thank you so much Taylor, because you always, always, always blow me away with your kindness and your friendship. That’s why I stan for her online with everything that I do,” Todrick said. “When I met her and she was so sweet, I was like, ‘I’m so excited to get to know you,” but there’s no way she could be this sweet all the time.”

“Every time I see her around her fans, her family, her employees, the way she treats everyone. The way she goes out of her way to shake everyone’s hand,” he continued.

When she came to see Kinky Boots, he added that Taylor stayed for two and a half hours after the show and made sure to meet every single person involved in the show, including the ticket takers, custodians, ushers and security. She even insisted on taking individual photos with everyone in the cast. Check it out in Todrick‘s video here!

Todrick Hall Dishes About His Relationship With Taylor Swift

Todrick Hall Dishes About His Relationship With Taylor Swift

Todrick Hall has got nothing but love for Taylor Swift!

The 33-year-old star opened up about his relationship with the 29-year-old “Ready For It?” singer-songwriter in a new interview with Elite Daily.

“Huge things will happen and she’ll be like, ‘OK, great. This is what we have to do, this is what the universe has given us, this is what we’re faced with. How are we going to fix this?’ I would love to handle my minor issues the way that she handles some of her huge issues that billions of people are going to see and judge,” he said of their friendship.

He also talked about Taylor opening up about her politics on social media.

“I was explaining to her that, as a gay person, I didn’t know for sure how you felt about gay people and I was a little bit nervous to talk to you about my love life or whatever,” he admitted.

“Sometimes, people would give me flack online that she wasn’t doing certain things. I love the fact that she has grown and evolved in her own time, as every artist has to do. It can be very scary to potentially risk your career or your reputation to stick your neck out for something when you don’t have to do it. You don’t have to stand up for gay rights, you don’t have to voice your opinion, and you’ll sell the same amount of records. But somebody who truly cares about the way this country is falling apart and will take it upon themselves to use their voice to do something — that, I believe, is just the right thing to do.”

“I feel like I owe her money for the amount of therapy that she’s given me for the boys that I’ve dated,” he added.
