The show, which originated on the DC Universe streaming service, follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.

Nicky will rely on her friends and family, as well as her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice…all while searching for the ruthless assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor Pei-Ling and is now targeting her.

The new series is the second new show on the network this year that has been greenlit for another season. The first was Jared Padelecki‘s hit new series Walker.

Kung Fu also stars Eddie Liu, Gavin Stenthouse, Jon Prasida, Kheng Hua Tan, Shannon Dang, Tony Chung, Tzi Ma and Vanessa Kai. You can currently catch the show on Wednesday nights at 8pm on The CW!

One of The CW’s new shows, Kung Fu, is making it’s series premiere TONIGHT (April 7)!

The brand new series, from CW super producer Greg Berlanti and showrunner Christina M. Kim, is a re-imagining of the 1970s series of the same name, but this time, features a female Asian lead, which is pretty groundbreaking for a primetime network show. It also features an almost all Asian cast.

Here’s a synopsis: A quarter-life crisis causes a young Chinese American woman, Nicky Shen (Olivia Liang), to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China.

But when she returns to San Francisco, she finds her hometown is overrun with crime and corruption and her own parents Jin (Tzi Ma) and Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) are at the mercy of a powerful Triad.

Nicky will rely on her tech-savvy sister Althea (Shannon Dang) and Althea’s fianc√© Dennis (Tony Chung), pre-med brother Ryan (Jon Prasida), Assistant District Attorney and ex-boyfriend Evan (Gavin Stenhouse) and new love interest Henry (Eddie Liu) as well as her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice… all while searching for the ruthless assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor Pei-Ling (Vanessa Kai) and is now targeting her.

Tune in to Kung Fu TONIGHT (April 7) at 8/7c on The CW. There will also be an encore presentation on Sunday (April 11) on TNT at 10pm ET/PT.
