Robert Pattinson is opening up about his very first thoughts about the project that made him a household name, Twilight.
During a chat with Jennifer Lopez as part of Variety‘s actors on actors series, the -year-old actor revealed how strange he actually thought Twilight was.
“I mean with Twilight, it wasn’t really an established thing. To me, Catherine Hardwicke, who directed it, had done ‘Thirteen’ and ‘Lords of Dogtown.’ They were little movies, and they were kind of hardcore. Kristen [Stewart] was in stuff as well; she’d been in Into the Wild and some other things. And it was very indie [...],” he shared, talking about how the movie did start out as an indie movie.
Robert adds that “it’s a weird story, Twilight. It’s strange how people responded. I guess the books, they are very romantic, but at the same time, it’s not like The Notebook romantic. Twilight is about this guy who finds the one girl he wants to be with, and also wants to eat her. Well, not eat — drink her blood or whatever. I thought it was a strange story. Even the way I promoted it, I was very open about how strange I thought it was when I was doing it.”
“Then afterward, I didn’t make a conscious decision at all to do smaller things. I’ve just kept doing what I wanted to do in the first place.”

Airbnb has announced that the house used for Bella’s house is now available for rent.
Although only the first film was shot inside, the owners have redecorated the interior so that it looks exactly like it did in the movies – and there are even cutouts of characters played by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner in some of the bedrooms!
The five-bedroom house is located in Saint Helens, Oregon instead of in Forks, Washington where it was based in the book and movie series.

Robert Pattinson is starting to appreciate his Twilight days more and more.
In a new interview with USA Today, the Edward Cullen actor is looking back at the movie franchise with new eyes.
“It seems like with younger people in their late teens, early 20s, it’s sort of become quite a hip thing to like,” the 32-year-old actor told . “It’s a fascinating second wave of people appreciating it, which is kind of cool. I think when anything becomes a massive phenomenon, there’s always people who get annoyed because it’s just everywhere. But now it seems like a retro thing: the soundtrack, the fashion. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s so late 2000s.’ ”
Robert adds that he actually sat down to watch part of New Moon “just the other day” and shared that “it genuinely does have an incredibly good soundtrack. I completely forgot, but the soundtracks were quite ahead of their time.”
“It’s lovely now that the mania is not so intense. People come up (to me) and just have very fond memories of it. It’s a really sweet thing,” Rob adds. “I think the only scary part was right in the thick of it all, when it was very, very intense. Now the intensity has died down and it’s just very warm memories.”
TELL JJJ: Which Twilight movie is your favorite?
There’s been some talk about another Twilight movie in continuing the Cullen’s stories – but Kellan Lutz is looking for another type of continuation altogether.
The actor, who played Emmett Cullen in the film franchise, revealed that he wants to see an origin story for Emmett more than anything.
“I think [Emmett] was the only one who wasn’t really touched on that much, even with the excerpt with Emmett and the bear and how he turned into a vampire,” Kellan shared in a recent interview.
He added that he’d want “to see the love story more…I would, of course, love to have more Emmett, do another movie, do a more origin story of how he came to be. That’d be fun.”
TELL JJJ: If Twilight did continue, what kind of movie would you want to see?
It’s the 10 year anniversary of the theatrical release of Twilight, and Jacob Black…we mean, Taylor Lautner is paying tribute to the film that made him a household name.
Celebrating the day with a funny meme on Instagram, Taylor shared how thankful he was for the movie franchise.
“It’s been 10 years exactly since twilight was released in theaters,” he started. “I thought I should take this moment to thank every single fan who has supported the franchise over the last decade but also to thank Kendall Jenner for being my hair inspo back in 07’.”
Taylor added, “Thank you fans. And thank you Kendall.”

To mark the anniversary this weekend, stars Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz, and Edi Gathegi reunited at 2018 New York Comic Con over the weekend, along with director Catherine Hardwicke, to reflect on their experience.
“It’s been interesting looking back 10 years ago at the first Twilight movie coming out because this was before Facebook became the monolith it is, before Twitter and Instagram even existed,” Jackson said (via EW).
He continued, “This was a film that captured so many people before social media and connected them across the world. The amount of people I’ve met who have been like, ‘Oh because of this series and fandom I was able to meet my best friend, even though we lived in different countries.’ I’ve heard stories from mothers and daughters who said they really connected over these books and films.”
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson sent recorded messages to the audience during the panel, thanking fans for all they’ve given the franchise throughout the years
“I feel like we all kind of grew up together…,” Kristen said. “I love you guys; I’m totally there in spirit.”
