Disney+ Greenlights New Series Based Off of Lucasfilm Movie 'Willow'

Disney+ is resurrecting the world of Willow!

The streaming service announced it’s plans for a TV series based off George Lucas‘ 1988 film, which is an epic fantasy adventure set in an age of swords, sorcery, myths and monsters.

The TV series spinoff is the first non-Star Wars entity since 2015 and it will take place years after the original, with the movie’s original star Warwick Davis (pictured here) reprising his role!

“So many fans have asked me over the years if Willow will make a return, and now I’m thrilled to tell them that he will indeed,” Warwick said in a statement. “Many have told me they grew up with Willow and that the film has influenced how they view heroism in our own world. If Willow Ufgood can represent the heroic potential in all of us, then he is a character I am extremely honored to reprise.”

The director of the original film, Ron Howard, also shared a statement about the new TV series. He will also executive produce the show.

“It’s creatively exciting to not only revisit the world and characters first conceived by George Lucas, Bob Dolman and myself but to see it take flight in such fresh, fun and cinematic ways through the imagination of Jon Kasdan and Team Willow,” Ron shared. “This isn’t a nostalgic throw-back, it’s a creative lean-forward and it’s a blast to be a part of it all.”

Jon M Chu will direct the pilot, written by Jonathan Kasdan, who will also serve as co-showrunner with Wendy Mericle. The trio will also serve as an executive producers on the series, which will begin production in 2021.

The original Willow movie is currently available to stream on Disney+!

Tom Felton & Matthew Lewis Find Their True Patronuses at Pottermore (Video)

Tom Felton & Matthew Lewis Find Their True Patronuses at Pottermore (Video)

We think Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis are just a little disappointed with their true patronuses, after taking a Pottermore quiz.

Obviously, Matthew (Neville Longbottom) was hoping for The Rock, and Tom, well…he didn’t get his fire breathing dragon.

Instead, they both got cats!

Tom learned that if Dementors ever came his way, he’d have some help of a ragdoll cat.

Matthew has a tortoiseshell cat at his side — and he didn’t seem to mind it at all, actually.

Warwick Davis, who played both Griphook and Professor Filius Flitwick in the franchise, also took the quiz and found out his own Patronus would be a weasel.

James, Oliver and Warwick were seen grabbing a butterbeer at the event while Evanna stood at the gates, with a lantern to anyone who was brave enough to go inside.

Just a couple of weeks before, Evanna, James and Oliver joined Jason Isaacs for the preview event where they also welcomed a hippogriff.

The Forbidden Forest leg of London’s Warner Bros Studio Tour opens on March 31st.

Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis, & More 'Harry Potter' Stars Speak Out After Alan Rickman's Death

Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis, & More 'Harry Potter' Stars Speak Out After Alan Rickman's Death

Bonnie Wright has released a touching statement regarding the sudden death of her late Harry Potter co-star Alan Rickman.

The 24-year-old British actress, who starred as Ginny Weasley in the films, told JJJ, “As a young actor I was incredibly fortunate to have worked with Alan and be exposed to his graceful methods. He had that rare ability to shift the energy of a set the moment he walked on. I will never forget his deep, measured and theatrical voice. He will be missed by the Potter family.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Campbell Bower (Gellert Grindelwald), James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), and Warwick Davis (Griphook) also took to social media to share their memories of him.

Our thoughts remain with Alan‘s family and friends during this difficult time.
