Selena Gomez Says She 'Would Love To' Make a 'Wizards of Waverly Place' Reboot

It looks like a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot isn’t totally out of the question!

In a recent video interview, Selena Gomez revealed that she’d actually be on board for a reboot of some sort of the Disney Channel series.

During the segment with Kiss FM UK, the 27-year-old actress and singer shared that she’s actually been getting more and more questions about the show than she ever had before.

“It makes me very happy. It was one of the greatest times of my life,” she shared. “I will never forget it. I still talk to some of the people from the show.”

Selena adds about a reboot, “I actually would love to…I don’t know when that will happen or if that will happen but I am 1,000 percent down.”

We all know that both Jake T. Austin and Gregg Sulkin are up for reboots, and just recently, David Henrie revealed that he and Selena actually have a plot in mind.

'Wizards of Waverly Place' Showrunner Remembers the 'Rules' Disney Had About Social Media When The Show Premiered

'Wizards of Waverly Place' Showrunner Remembers the 'Rules' Disney Had About Social Media When The Show Premiered

Your #FlashbackFriday post is here and this will bring up a lot of memories.

Remember, years ago, when the iPhone came out and Twitter was just starting when all your fave Disney shows were on — but you couldn’t find out anythign from its’ stars?

Wizards of Waverly Place showrunner Todd J. Greenwald remembers too — and he also remembers the rules.

“The funny thing was, the iPhone came out the same year Wizards came out,” he recalled in an interview with IBT. “It was interesting because we were tweeting and taking pictures on set and Disney was like ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, you can’t do that, you can’t do that.’”

He adds, “They put up these rules like we were in school, ‘You’re not allowed to post, you’re not allowed to tweet.’ Like those sort of hipster parent language, trying to make us not do it.”

However, the cast still did tweet some things and shared a few pics — just not as much as its’ stars can today.

Todd also credits the iPhone for promoting the show, too — which if we all remember, Wizards has been the only Disney Channel program to win an Emmy — twice.

Gregg Sulkin Is Always Open For a 'Wizards of Waverly Place' Reunion

Gregg Sulkin Is Always Open For a 'Wizards of Waverly Place' Reunion

There’s been talk of Wizards of Waverly Place reunions pretty much since the show ended.

We know that stars Jake T. Austin and even the creator Todd J. Greenwald are up for one, and so is Gregg Sulkin.

“I mean, that show gave me my start here, so I’ll always be grateful, and I’ll always want to do a reunion,” he shared with ET about the possibility.

But, just like co-star Selena Gomez, he agrees that “it’s gotta make sense on a career level for every single person involved.”

Speaking of Selena, Gregg is happy about her many successes after the show ended.

“I’m happy it’s happened to a nice person, because a lot of people in this industry, you seem a certain way, and maybe aren’t,” Gregg says. “But she’s always been really lovely, has always been very determined, hard-working, and if you type in like, ‘Selena Gomez scandal,’ on Google, you’ll never find one.”

'Wizards of Waverly Place' Wanted To Do a Christmas Episode, But Never Got The Chance

'Wizards of Waverly Place' Wanted To Do a Christmas Episode, But Never Got The Chance

If you look back over the years on Disney Channel, there have been a lot of holiday-themed episodes — from Halloween to New Year’s Eve and even Christmas — but one show that didn’t get the chance to do a Christmas-themed episode was Wizards of Waverly Place.

Showrunner Todd J. Greenwald spoke to IBT recently about it, calling it bizarre that they never got the chance.

“We always wanted to do a Christmas episode,” he shared. “And I think we presented Disney with an idea, which I keep trying to find, but it’s so bizarre they said no. Because I think we wanted Santa Claus, St. Nick, to be a wizard.”

How cool would that episode be? Santa as a wizard — yes please!

Todd adds, “I think we built this whole kind of fallen hero thing with Santa Claus that was maybe too sad for Disney, but we thought it was perfect for ‘Wizards’.”

It’s a bummer that the episode never got made.

Gregg Sulkin Says It Was a 'Blessing' To Be on 'Wizards of Waverly Place'

Gregg Sulkin Says It Was a 'Blessing' To Be on 'Wizards of Waverly Place'

Gregg Sulkin is always looking back on his days on Wizards of Waverly Place with a big smile.

Speaking with The Zach Sang Show, the Marvel’s Runaways star opened up about joining the show and called it a blessing for him.

“I’m so lucky to have landed that specific Disney Channel show,” he shared. “I think Disney Channel had so many great shows on at that time, but Wizards…maybe I’m just biased, but it was a little bit, in my opinion, above the rest.”

Gregg added, “Families really did love that show, it had such a great message and obviously, you look at the cast and Selena’s gone on to do Selena Gomez things. And it was just an absolute blessing to be on the show with her and to on a show obviously with the Disney Channel so yeah, my life is definitely changed.”

He also talked about what playing Mason, Alex’s werewolf boyfriend, meant to him.

“How to be funny, I was never funny before that,” Gregg laughs. “It also taught me that this is a very small working town, so it taught me to always be grateful to every single person who works on set.”

“I have been doing this since I was 12 years old but I think Wizards was the first time I learned the crew members really do become your family and you owe so much to them,” Gregg shared. “It was my first ever sitcom so it taught me how to land joke and find that timing and I learned that mainly from David Henrie who is still like my older brother and best friend.”
