Gabby Douglas stops by Citi Field for a Kids Event in New York City on Thursday afternoon (August 23).
The 16-year-old Olympian tweeted, “So excited to be a part of Citi Field Kids & to share my story. And I get to throw out the 1st pitch at the Mets game! #ballin lol!”
Just the night before, Gabby threw the first pitch out at the Mets game.
“I wanted everyone to know my story, know where I came from, know my background,” she shared with the NY Post. “It was not easy. I had to face a lot coming through this journey, a lot of sacrifices, difficulties, challenges, even injuries. So I wanted everyone to know it still is possible in any sport for anyone. I wanted to make them know, never give up and just keep fighting because though times may be tough, sacrifices are not in vain and they do pay off.”
