Miley Cyrus has just released a new cover version of Melanie Safka‘s song “Look What They’ve Done to My Song, Ma” and you can listen to it here!

The 22-year-old singer recorded the cover in just two takes back in August for the new film Free the Nipple.

“It’s more rock ‘n’ roll,” the film’s director Lina Esco told Variety. “It’s very Johnny Cash. Her voice is so raw, and the song is so raw.”

Free the Nipple is a satire about a group of fearless women fighting for their right to go topless in public, as they smash societal taboos one bare breast at a time.

“This is about equality,” Lina said. “You can show beheadings on Facebook, but you can’t show breastfeeding. If you’re going to censor nudity and love, you should censor violence.”
