Ed Sheeran's 'Galway Girl' Tattoo is Spelled Wrong Because of Saoirse Ronan, But He Laughs About It

Ed Sheeran revealed what to many people might be a tattoo fail, but he says it was the ultimate prank by his friend, actress Saoirse Ronan.

As he explained to his concert audience, he asked Saoirse — who’s rumored to be involved in his “Galway Girl” video — to write “Galway Girl” so he could have it tattooed on his body in her handwriting.

The Oscar-winning actress purposefully misspelled “Galway Girl” to read “Galway Grill,” and Ed is so impressed with the joke, he’s not even mad.

Ed debuted his new ink — and the the incorrect spelling — at his concert in Glasgow, Scotland.

“Thought I’d tell you that,” Ed told his audience. “Haven’t told anyone about that yet… I’m actually kind of proud of it. It’s the kind of thing that I would do.” The tattoo is on his right forearm.

Ed has so many tattoos, we wouldn’t have even noticed! Now he’ll always forever remember his video shoot — and Saoirse for her prank.
