Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #7

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #7

How many of you turned on ABC Family last night and fell in love with Jane By Design? Us too!

JJJ fell in love with Jane, India and Lulu’s fashion sense in the pilot episode — but who really caught our eye was Birdie, the HR rep.

Just one look at her cute high-waisted jumper pants and we knew we had to have a pair ourselves. Searching our friend the internet, we found a few core pieces that you can score to get her look.

Cute, comfy and chic tees are key to pulling off the right outfit. So start simple — Gap‘s long-sleeved tee or short-sleeved scoop tee are the way to go. Doesn’t matter the color, just remember the fit. If it doesn’t fit right, it will ruin the effortless fashion Birdie had when she walked through the doors.

Hop on over to American Apparel, and snatch up the unisex jumper pants. Personally, we love the navy piqué color.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #6

Pretzels. Yes, the edible kind.

Our potential future boss, Gray Chandler Murray, definitely challenged us with this task and we will admit, came up with less than stellar results. We couldn’t think of what to do with the pretzels.

Gray wrote to us in an email, “The ability to translate your inspiration into something fresh and unexpected that takes the fashion world by storm is a rare gift. Rumor has it that one of the most coveted designer bags of all time was inspired by a roll of tape. Find the bag of pretzels in your trunk. Get inspired and create something that will amaze me.”

Our inspiration seemed to have left us in the dust for this task, as all we could do with them, was create a new belt buckle.

Painted with a rosey polish and brushed with gold leaf shadow, we strung the pretzels up on a thin piece of black leather and tied it around our dress form. Cute, no? Well, point is, we tried and came up with at least something.

Got any tips of what we could’ve done with the pretzels? Leave them below AND on the official Jane By Design Facebook!

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #5!

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #5!

There are only two days left until the premiere of Jane By Design and we’re almost to the last task for the official style challenge.

For our task, Jane (Erica Dasher) instructed us to play up and down a cute white tailored shirt: “Using accessories from your own collection (or anything else you can think of), show how you would style the shirt for a day at the office. Then, change the look entirely and show me how you would style the same shirt for a dressy cocktail party.”

We took the challenge and did just that.

For our day look, we placed the shirt underneath our favorite blue dress and added a stunning pendant necklace to it. Nothing too stand out, but professional nonetheless.

For our party look, we took the same dress and turned it into a skirt. Adding a sparkly vest, we pulled the tailored shirt around our dress form’s shoulders and voila!

JJJ also played a bit with a daytime, weekend look. We pulled the shorts from our first task (the haul video), added a cute necklace and our fave purse. What do you think?

Do you have any day-to-night tips for us? Share it on the official Jane By Design Facebook and mention JJJ!

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #4

For our fourth task, the DonovanDecker fashion house provided us with one snazzy holiday sweater and asked us to turn it into something fresh, new and completely different.

“You must use every ounce of creativity you have to turn the holiday sweater into something special. Something spectacular,” Gray Chandler Murray tells us in her email. “I don’t care if you use scissors or glue, your fat jeans or a slice of stale fruitcake. Turn that sweater into something fresh & exciting that could be the next big trend for Holiday 2012.”

Our peers who are also participating in the challenge came up with some pretty cool things, but as we looked at the sweater, we just couldn’t cut it up.

Our grandmother, who we spent the Christmas week with, took one look at it and fell in love with it, just as it was. Yes, we know it’s a grandma sweater to begin with, but we just couldn’t take scissors to destroy the snowmen on it.

Instead, we thought of how our grandmother used to dress up as Mrs. Claus when we were younger and pulled out some old ribbons and lace, adding them to the sweater. Now, Mrs. Claus is as snazzy as Santa Claus is — complete with her own amazing belt.

We know we might get “fired” from the challenge by keeping the sweater as is, but we love it. A Christmas sweater can never really go out of style.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #3

For our next Jane By Design Style Challenge, we were asked to find a purse that represents us.

Home for the holidays, our closet was limited! But we did bring a cute bag with us and we think it’s a perfect fit.

It’s compact, cute, fun, classy, easy, sleek and smart. We love it!

Jane By Design premieres Tuesday, January 3 @ 9PM ET/PT on ABC Family.

Jane By Design Style Challenge - Task #2

Jane By Design Style Challenge - Task #2

We’ve finally got our second task completed for the Jane By Design Style Challenge.

Using items around our home and office, we put together a festive look inspired by a few fashion icons of ours. Our fashion icons that we pulled from — Leslie Caron, Clemence Poesy and Ann Miller, who you may or may not recognize.

We took lace from Leslie‘s infamous role of Gigi, bold colors from Ann and the staple softness of Clemence for our design. How do you like it?

Speaking of fashion icons — do you have any? Are you inspired by them in your day to day wear? We’d love to hear and see them on the official Jane by Design Facebook.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Task #1 Complete!

JustJaredJr.com finally got our first style challenge complete!

For our first task, Gray Chandler Murray asked us to go shopping — and shopping we did. We scoped out some cool shops and picked up some cool looking things — well, at least we think so.

We learned from the video DonovanDecker sent over that we needed to look for things that caught our eyes. And these items definitely caught our eyes. Check out what we got:

– a Wkshp tee with “I Love You” scribbled in world languages
– a pair of Jetset corduroy shorts.
– one flower printed jewelry box
– a set of earth tone bracelets
– one infinity blue bracelet
– one pearl-lined blue box clutch

Check out the short haul video below of our finds! (Remember, be kind. We’re new to haul videos)
