Piper Curda Always Wanted To Be A Disney Kid
Piper Curda chills out in an open square in this new shot from the new issue of NKD mag.
The 17-year-old actress chatted about working with Disney, I Didn’t Do It, and music. Check it:
On always wanting to be a Disney kid: “In my mind, as a kid, Disney was always my goal. I think every kid wants to be on Disney. Right now, I’m doing exactly what 8-year-old me wanted to do.”
On her journey to Disney: “It did not happen overnight, which is a lot of people’s misconceptions, especially about Disney kids. People think they just auditioned and Disney put them on a show and now they’re here. I auditioned for six Disney shows before this one.”
On Jasmine Kang: ” She has this cool energy and confidence that I don’t have all the time. I like to think I’m sassy, but I would never say certain things because I’m afraid of saying them. It’s really fun to step into that character and act that way because I can’t act that way in real life.”
On music: “I love songwriting. Just having people hear my songs is an exciting prospect for me, but my next goal is to put out an album. I love being able to write what I want to write and do what I want to, and having no one tell me ‘I can’t,’ I try not to get the clich of singing Disney stars in the way of anything. That assumption is going to come along with anyone on the network who sings. But I let people think what they want to think, hear my music, and judge it for themselves.”
