Shawn Mendes Wanted To Spread The Message About Domestic Violence with 'Treat You Better' Vid
Shawn Mendes stands in the spotlight for his opening concert on his world tour at Mizner Park Amphitheater on Friday night (July 15) in Boca Raton, Fla.
“Okay Boca. It is stupid hot outside, please drink as much water as you can! Ill see u soon!” the 17-year-old singer wrote just ahead of his sold out concert.
Just recently, Shawn chatted with People, and opened up about tackling a domestic violence storyline within the video for “Treat You Better” video.
“It’s scary creating a music video because you want to make sure it tells the story well. I love how the fans are reacting to it especially the domestic violence hotline [number] at the end of it. I think our goal of spreading the message worked really well,” Shawn shared.
He added that the vid is about making sure couples are “treating each other right. Personally, I’ve seen that happen wrong in a lot of different ways, emotionally and physically. I just wanted to spread the message that it shouldn’t be that way.”
