Sabrina Carpenter & Yara Shahidi Believe There Are 'No Mistakes' in Beauty

Sabrina Carpenter and Yara Shahidi are opening up about being uniquely yourself and not letting anybody else judge you for it.

The “Thumbs” singer and the Black-ish actress posed for some gorgeous shots in Glamour magazine’s April issue, on national newsstands March 14 and available now on Glamour.com. Here’s what they told the mag:

How Sabrina sees beauty ideals evolving: “I definitely feel a shift, like now there’s no mistakes. Sure, everyone has an opinion, and people might be judgmental. But there’s a little bit more room for error nowadays, especially when it comes to trying different things, experimenting with who you are, and knowing that change is accepted. There is no right thing, really, when it comes to being yourself.”

What irks Yara most about traditional beauty standards: “I feel like it’s no big surprise to anybody that traditional beauty standards are very Eurocentric, which do not reflect nearly the majority of our society. So rather than trying to base them off one type of person, it’s about redefining them by not defining them. If there’s a definition of what it means to be beautiful, that means there’s a definition of what it means to not be beautiful.”
