Daniel Gillies To Direct Episode of 'The Originals'

Daniel Gillies is the next star to step behind the camera on The Originals.

Talking with ET, the actor, who plays Elijah, opened up about the opportunity.

“It was something that I had wanted to do and it was something that I had seen Joseph Morgan do in the season before, so I was immediately and violently jealous,” he shared. “I thought, ‘Well, I’ve got to do that.’

Daniel adds, “And then Charles [Michael Davis] got signed up and I thought, ‘Well, if that hack is going to do it, now I’ve got to jump in.’”

So, who’s the worst to work with as a director? “I would say me. I’m just so resistant to direction.”

“I didn’t realize what an a**hole I was to direct until I directed me and I was like, ‘Oh! This is why everyone has got a problem with me!’ Like, I’m the worst,” Daniel says.

“Why am I contesting every line? I’m like, ‘Oh, my character wouldn’t say that,’ and then I had to come back to the monitors and yell at me.”
