Jake Miller Reveals 'Halfway' Was Just About The Easiest Song He's Ever Written

There are some songs that just come to so easy, and that’s exactly what happened for Jake Miller with “Halfway”.

“This is one of the earlier songs that I made for the record,” the musician exclusively shared with JJJ. “I was on the rooftop of my apartment complex, just tanning, and wrote the chorus with the melodies, without any music in my head — just a cappella — which is a way I’ve been writing a lot of my songs lately.”

He adds, “I came make to my room after that and recorded the rough side into a voice memo. I had called up another friend, [Croosh, also rapper and songwriter] who I talked to earlier that day, and we worked on the song together that day.”

The easy, laid-back vibe was all Jake needed to write the amazing song.

“It’s why I like making music in my apartment because there’s just no pressure,” Jake says. “There’s no big fancy studios or big fancy equipment, or people walking in and out of the studio offering their opinions.”

“It’s just me. In all these songs you can hear that. You can hear the authenticity.”
