Katherine McNamara Describes Filming The Final Scene of 'Shadowhunters' & You'll Be In Tears Over It
Katherine McNamara is going to make you cry like a baby, just like us.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, the 23-year-old actress opened up about shooting the final scene of Shadowhunters.
“The last scene I filmed was not the last scene in the show, but in the series finale there is a scene in which pretty much everyone who has ever been on the show was on set,” Kat shared. “We’re all in the Institute and it was such a surreal moment for me because I remember the last shot so vividly. It’s a very emotional scene for Clary as well, so I was able to use a lot of my own tears on set – there was not a lot of acting happening that day, thank goodness.”
She continues, “But there’s a scene, I’m holding Dom [Sherwood]‘s hand, and I’m looking at him. You actually see the shot in the trailer. So I’m walking away crying – that’s the last shot I ever shot in the show. So I’m looking at Dom, and behind him is everybody.
“There’s Matt [Daddario] and Harry [Shum Jr] and Emeraude [Toubia] and Alberto [Rosende]. I’m looking at everybody and I’m looking at our family…and I have to turn and walk away from them, and that was the last shot I ever did for the show. It was so indicative and representative of where the journey’s been.”
The final season of Shadowhunters is airing Mondays on Freeform.
