Ally Brooke Opens Up About The DWTS Shock Elimination & Why She Wanted To Give Her Finals Spot Up For James Van Der Beek

Ally Brooke was in actual tears last night over the shocking elimination on Dancing With The Stars.

After being int he bottom two alongside James Van Der Beek and his partner, Emma Slater, the judges chose to save the 26-year-old singer and her partner, Sasha Farber, for the finals.

Moments after, Ally was ready to give up her spot for James, who had revealed earlier in the night that his wife, Kimberly, had suffered a miscarriage with their sixth child.

“I’m really sad and I just feel like it’s not right that he went home and that is how I feel,” Ally explained to ET. “Obviously I know Sasha and I have been through hell and back on the show. We’ve overcome so many obstacles and we’re strong people, we adore the show more than anything. I have had the time of my life on this show. But it’s really tough, especially given James’ circumstances that he went tonight.”

She continued, “I don’t believe it’s fair that he was sent home, so I just wanted to give my spot to him. He’s been through so much and he’s overcome so many things. Especially this past week, I just felt it was right to give it to him. Obviously he didn’t accept it. I talked to him and he was proud of me. He told me, ‘Don’t be afraid to shine.’ So I’m going to take that with me and I just have to do this for him, is what I feel.”

Following her offer, James insisted that Ally go on to the finals instead of him.

“He was just like, ‘I can’t accept that’ and ‘It’s very, very kind,’” Ally shared. “He said, ‘Just enjoy it.’ Sasha and I talked to him afterwards as well and I tried to offer again and I talked to him on my own, and he was just like, ‘No, please, you just enjoy it and you shine and don’t be afraid to shine.’”

“[Those] are the exact words he told me, and I’m taking that in. Even though I’m very sad and in a way feel like I shouldn’t be here, I’m trying to celebrate too [for] my personal journey.”

Emma told ET that she appreciated Ally‘s offer as well, but will be rooting for her and Sasha, her husband, for the finals.

“Bless her heart. She’s so sweet,” Emma said. “But she deserves to be there. Everybody is so close. It’s a Dancing With the Stars family and I wish that no one had to get eliminated.”

“It didn’t surprise me at all because she’s got a heart of gold … but James would never allow that to happen. We would never take someone’s spot that deserves to be at the finals,” she continued. “Ally, you deserve to be there. Her and Sasha. They could go all the way. I really believe it in my heart. So, I hope people vote for them.”
