Disney+ Developing 'Doogie Howser, M.D.' Female-Led Reboot Set In Hawaii!

There’s a new Doogie Howser, M.D. in the works!

Disney+ is developing a new, updated version of the 1989 show, which will follow a female Doogie, according to Deadline.

The working title is Doogie Kealoha, M.D., and “centers on a 16-year-old half Asian, half white girl who works as a doctor.” Screenwriter Kourtney Kang, who has worked on Fresh Off The Boat and How I Met Your Mother, is working on the new series, and the lead character’s ethnicity is based off of her own background.

The original Doogie Howser, M.D. starred Neil Patrick Harris as a teenage physician balancing the challenge of practicing medicine with the everyday problems of teenage life.
