The Girls on the Bus is inspired by a chapter in Amy Chozick‘s book “Chasing Hillary,” and is a “comedic, character-driven drama chronicles four female journalists who follow every move of a parade of flawed presidential candidates, while finding friendship, love, and scandal along the way.”

Melissa will portray “Sadie McCarthy, a journalist who romanticizes the original ‘Boys on the Bus’ and who scrapped her whole life for her own shot at covering a presidential campaign for the paper of record. Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors. Despite their differences, these women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House.”

She will also be reuniting with Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter on the project. Julie Plec is a writer and executive producer on the upcoming show as well.

In addition, Melissa has also renewed her overall deal with Warner Bros and her production company Three Rings Productions, and will continue to develop and produce projects across all platforms for Warner Bros Television.
