'SpongeBob Squarepants: The Musical' Star Ethan Slater Joins Cast of 'Wicked' Movies

Ethan Slater is going from Bikini Bottom to Oz!

The 30-year-old Tony award-nominated actor has just been announced to join the cast of the upcoming Wicked movies, Variety reveals.

Ethan is the fourth cast member announced, following Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, and he nabs another key role.

The Broadway actor will be playing the role of Boq, who if you don’t know, has a crush on Glinda, but ends up asking out Elphaba’s sister Nessarose at the request of Glinda.

Ethan is most well known for originating the role of SpongeBob Squarepants in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, which earned him a Tony award-nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.

If you missed it, this actor is also reportedly in talks to play the Wizard of Oz.
