Bella Ramsey Opens Up About Dealing with Anxiety & Finding Out She's Neurodivergent

Bella Ramsey is opening up about some of the mental health problems she’s faced.

The 19-year-old The Last of Us star got candid about why she left The Worst Witch after season three, gender fluidity and identity, learning she’s neurodivergent and more in a new interview.

“I’ve been thinking for years that maybe I was [neurodivergent], and then to find that out whilst filming this show was super special,” she told Elle magazine. “It was cool to see, to have that and to really understand my own brain by being able to understand other people’s.”

On her anxiety, she noted it didn’t really start until she “started working in high-pressured environments.”

“I know it’s sort of been publicized a lot that I left [The Worst Witch] for mental health reasons. I would say the more accurate description is that I had resolved a lot of my mental health problems by that point,” Bella said. “And then the idea was that, ‘I’m not going to do this fourth season because it’s not worth it, because I’m in a better place now. This is not something that I want to continue to string out and have the recurring issues that stem from that first season. I don’t need or want to do this anymore.’”
