Milo Manheim to Star in Nativity Musical Movie from 'High School Musical' Writer

Milo Manheim is starring in an upcoming new movie musical based on the Nativity!

The 21-year-old Zombies actor has been cast to portray Joseph in the upcoming movie, wihch is currently in production in Spain, according to Deadline.

“I can’t overemphasize what this project means to me. The gratitude is endless. YALL ARE GONNA LOVE THIS ONE🐪🌴✨,” Milo shared on Instagram.

Also starring in the project are Fiona Palomo as Mary and Antonio Banderas as King Herod.

Here’s a synopsis: “A young woman carrying an unimaginable responsibility. A young man torn between love and honor. A jealous king who will stop at nothing to keep his crown. This live-action Christmas musical celebration for the entire family, weaves classic Christmas melodies into new pop songs in a music-infused retelling of the timeless story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus.”

The film is slated for a quick turnaround, and set for a November 10th theatrical release.

Rounding out the cast are Stephanie Gil, Joel Smallbone as King Herod’s son Antipater, Lecrae as Gabriel, Rizwan Manji as Gaspar, Geno Seagers as Balthazar and Omid Djalili as Melchior.

The movie musical is actually combining the talents of a few Disney Channel musical alums!

Glee music producer Adam Anders is making his feature film directorial debut, and he co-wrote the script with Peter Barsocchini, who wrote the High School Musical movies. He also penned the music with wife Nikki Anders and Peer Astrom, all three of whom have also written songs for Disney movies.

The trio have written and produced songs for Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, The Cheetah Girls: One World, Starstruck, Descendants, High School Musical 3: Senior Year and Hannah Montana: The Movie!

“I first had the idea for the film years ago when I was looking for a musical to watch with my family at Christmastime,” Adam said of the upcoming film. “I want this movie to be a bright light this Christmas season — as bright as the star of Bethlehem.”
