Jewel Staite says her Family Law character is very similar to another character she played in a series that aired on The CW.

The actress currently can be seen as Abigail “Abby” Bianchi, a complex and flawed, yet whip-smart and relatable personal injury attorney, who nearly gets disbarred after a public humiliation.

This forces her to work with with the only lawyer in town willing to mentor her: her father and successful family law attorney Harry Svensson, played by Victor Garber.

In a new interview about the show’s upcoming second season, premiering on The CW this week, Jewel compared Abby to one of her past CW characters.

If you didn’t know, Jewel has also appeared on CW shows like DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supernatural, but compared Abby to Raquel Westbrook from the rather short-lived The LA Complex.

After the creator of The LA Complex, her firend Martin Gero, asked how Family Law was going, she told him, “‘Well, I’m basically playing Raquel if she went to law school,’” via TVLine. “He’s like, ‘Oh, my God!’ Like, ‘Yeah, just imagine Raquel in a courtroom. It’s sort of like that.’”

“I feel like Abby and Raquel would be BFFs. They’d probably get arrested together. It wouldn’t be, like, a healthy relationship,” Jewel added, with a laugh. “But yeah, I feel like they’re twin flames.”

Family Law season two premieres THIS Friday (July 7) at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. Check out the season trailer here…
