Maia Mitchell & Cierra Ramirez Talk Filming 'Good Trouble' Series Finale

Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez are saying goodbye to Good Trouble after five seasons!

The two stars reprised their roles, Callie Adams Foster and Mariana Adams Foster from The Fosters, and picked up as their characters moved to Los Angeles in their 20s.

After over ten years of playing those characters, Good Trouble is coming to an end, and the ladies recently opened up about filming the series finale.

“I stayed at her house after, ’cause I was like, ‘I’m not going to be able to like go to an Airbnb afterwards,’” Maia said on the Zach Sang Show. “Kicked her boyfriend out of the bed, held each other at like four o’clock in the morning, being like, ‘What the hell?’”

“But we were talking about it. I’m so excited for her as well… Both things can be true, you can be sad and then grateful,” she continued.

“And excited for the future,” Cierra chimed in.

“Excited for the new chapter for her, especially, you know,” Maia said.

They were then asked how much say they had in how their characters’ storylines wrapped in the finale. If you didn’t know, Cierra has been an executive producer on the show since the beginning, and Maia was an executive producer as well, before she exited the show as a full-time cast member in season three. Although, she is credited as an EP for each episode she has appeared in since.

“We didn’t [have any say], we didn’t,” Cierra said, shaking her head.

“Although, I’m like, it’s this sort of thing where if we ever have [an] issue with anything, or we ever have like thoughts, we can always go to them and make suggestions, but yeah,” Maia added.

“I love our writers and everything that they’ve thrown our way, sorry, I’m just genuinely, I would love to get a new script every day because I’m like, ‘Oh, what are we getting into?’ I was never like, I would like to go in the writer’s room to see what they were writing, but never had any notes,” Cierra said. “I was always excited for what they wrote for us.”

The Good Trouble series finale airs TONIGHT (March 5) with a special 90-minute episode starting at 9:30pm ET/PT on Freeform, and next day on Hulu.
