We Can Be Heroes is getting a sequel!!

Netflix has revealed that a second film is already in development with director Robert Rodriguez, according to THR.

The movie, which premiered on the streaming platform on Christmas Day, has already been viewed by 44 million households.

The Christmas week viewership, based on two minutes of viewing time by a subscriber, was the Netflix’s “biggest on record for the same week, year-over-year, as measured by both total view hours and average view hours per subscriber across each period.”

Here’s a synopsis: When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno.

We Can Be Heroes stars YaYa Gosselin, Pedro Pascal, Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook, Vivien Blair, and Haley Reinhart, as well as Akira Akbar, Brittany Perry-Russell, Dylan Henry Lau, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Nathan Blair, Lyon Daniels and Quinton Johnson.

The official trailer for the upcoming film We Can Be Heroes has been released!

The new movie is in the same vein as Sky Kids and The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl, complete with appearances from the latter duo, who are now parents.

Here’s a synopsis: When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno (Yaya Gosselin) will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno (Pedro Pascal).

Missy teams up with the rest of the superkids to escape their mysterious government babysitter, Ms. Granada (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). If they’re going to save their parents, they’ll have to work together by using their individual powers — from elasticity to time control to predicting the future — and form an out-of-this-world team.

We Can Be Heroes is directed by Robert Rodriguez, who also directed Sky Kids and The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl. It also stars Christian Slater, Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook, Vivien Blair, and Haley Reinhart, as well as Akira Akbar, Brittany Perry-Russell, Dylan Henry Lau, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom and Quinton Johnson.

The film will be out on Christmas Day (December 25) on Netflix!

Sharkboy and Lavagirl are making their return in the all new sequel We Can Be Heroes!

Original star Taylor Dooley returns as Lavagirl, while JJ Dashnaw takes over the role of Sharkboy, originally played by Taylor Lautner – and now their parents.

Here’s a synopsis: When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their children must team up and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.

“Wanna feel old? Sharkboy and Lavagirl are parents now (and their daughter is played by Vivien Lyra Blair aka Girl from BIRD BOX),” Netflix wrote on Twitter.

The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl first premiered in 2005, and you can actually stream it on Netflix!

We Can Be Heroes, premiering on New Year’s Day (January 1), also stars Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook, Vivien Blair, and Haley Reinhart, as well as Akira Akbar, Brittany Perry-Russell, Dylan Henry Lau, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Quinton Johnson and YaYa Gosselin.
