Sofia Carson Says 'Descendants' Changed Her Life
Sofia Carson went on over 200 auditions before she got her big break.
The singer and actress, who turns 24 today, explained during a recent visit to AOL’s BUILD Series that she moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 to study acting at the University of California Los Angeles (aka UCLA).
She proceeded to go on audition after audition (getting rejected at almost every single one of them) until finally, after over 200 auditions, she landed her first significant role.
“The first year definitely no callbacks,” Sofia laughed. “But as time goes on, I felt like the best acting school I had was going on these many auditions. After my 200 something audition is when I was cast as Evie. It was my first film, my first big job… it changed my life.”
The best part is, Sofia never let a No stop her, and neither should you.
“In this business, I always say there are a lot of closed doors, a lot of Nos, and a lot of songs that no one ever wants to hear,” she explained. “One day there is that open door. And you just have to know that open door is going to come. There is that role that is right for you. You have to look at every audition as an opportunity to impress the casting director, to leave your mark and to keep your head up high. Because if you get destroyed by every single one, it’s almost torturous. You have to believe in yourself and put the work in, and your dreams can come true.
