EXCLUSIVE: Raymond Cham Jr. Gives Aspiring Dancers All The Advice You'll Ever Need
Raymond Cham, Jr. is an insanely talented dancer.
Never heard of him? Yes, you have!
You’ll recognize Raymond almost immediately from his role as Devon in Teen Beach 2, from Step Up All In, or even as Austin Moon’s backup dancer on Austin & Ally.
JJJ had the chance to speak with Raymond about all things dance, and his advice is giving us life.
“Shooting TB2 was incredible,” he told us of his time filming. “We were in Puerto Rico for a couple months so what is there to complain about? Being Devon was fun and already being a dancer really helped with the role.”
He added about Step Up All In, “[It] was just a wild experience, it was my first time working as an adult so there would be days where I got to set at 12pm and was there until 3am.”
Raymond also revealed all the tips you’ll ever need as an aspiring dancer.

“I started dancing when I was 8 and fell in love with it,” Raymond shares about his love for the sport. “My focus was to have fun.”
“I remember setting goals like performing at award shows, going on tour, dancing in a movie, etc. but I stopped worrying about that because I was just having so much fun doing what I was doing and sure enough I started booking those jobs.”
So, what advice does he have for dancers trying to get into the business?
“The most common thing to say is ‘Do it because you love it’ but it’s true,” Raymond says. “This business can knock you down sometimes but if that love is there you’ll prosper.”
