Mark Ballas Reveals What Qualities The Perfect DWTS Partner Has

Mark Ballas Reveals What Qualities The Perfect DWTS Partner Has

Mark Ballas will be back on our TV screens as a pro on Dancing With The Stars, and we could not be more thankful.

After taking a few seasons off, Mark will be back on the floor with another partner and speaking with People recently, he’s narrowed down what really makes a perfect partner.

“It’s a mixture of things,” he says. “Dancing is not the be all and end all. People can come on with dance experience and fans freak out saying, ‘That’s not fair!’ But dance ability has nothing to do with who is going to win. It’s about having a connection and a willingness to learn.”

Mark adds, “If you have a partner who really knows what they’re getting themselves in for and are willing to listen and work hard – and most importantly a trust between you – then all you need is a little spark of skill or natural talent and you’re going to go far.”

All those things are really important to Mark, too. He’s won two mirrored-ball trophies with partners with those qualities.

“If you’re lucky enough to tick all the boxes, that’s when there’s a match made in heaven.”

We’ll find out just who Mark is dancing with this season on Wednesday, September 6th. Come back to JJJ for the full cast announcement!

Witney Carson, Mark Ballas & Sharna Burgess Open Up About So-Called DWTS 'Rivalries'

Witney Carson, Mark Ballas & Sharna Burgess Open Up About So-Called DWTS 'Rivalries'

Witney Carson, Sharna Burgess and Mark Ballas are insisting that there is no rivalry between the pros on Dancing With The Stars.

Speaking with US Weekly, the three pro dancers, along with Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, opened up about those rumors that some of the pros don’t like each other.

“It’s intense for the show. But in reality, we are good friends. It’s not like, ‘I have to beat Mark Ballas!’” Peta says.

Sharna adds, “To be honest, I think the fans fight more than we do! The stories about bad blood and confrontation get blown out of proportion.”

“If you start thinking, ‘I have to beat this one,’ you’ve got a major problem,” Mark shares about it all. “This is about your partner.”

While there are no real rivalries, the pros are still rooting for their partners above everything else and yes, there are some that are really competitive — like Witney.

“At the beginning of the season we’re all so excited. Then, when it starts getting serious, I shut my door because I don’t want anybody to see my routine!” she confesses. “I am super-competitive.”

Dancing With The Stars returns on Monday, September 18th on ABC.

“I’ve wanted her to be on the show for a while. but our schedules never lined up,” Mark says. “I found out she was doing it and I had something fall through for October…that was a big [reason I came back].”

We can’t wait to meet Mark‘s partner, and we’re already wondering if those Ashley Benson rumors from last time could be true this time.

Mark Ballas Reveals His Reason For Returning to DWTS: He Missed It!

Mark Ballas Reveals His Reason For Returning to DWTS: He Missed It!

Mark Ballas is bringing his slick dance moves back to the ballroom floor on Dancing With The Stars and everyone on the planet is seriously rejoicing.

The 31-year-old two-time champ on the show opened up to People about why this was the perfect time to return to the show.

“There were aspects of it I missed, like getting to be creative and using that part of my skill set and brain,” Mark says.

“I like coming up with my own material. Doing Broadway was amazing, but you’re singing someone else’s words and doing someone else’s choreography and it’s the same every night.”

He continues, “Here you get to do your own thing and change it up every week.”

Mark also revealed that almost everything has changed on the show since his first season in 2007.

“The production has come a long way in giving the pros free rein,” he shares. “They’ve incorporated new styles and they’ve really upped the production value. It’s a great collaborative effort and a lot of fun. I missed that. I’m excited to switch that part of my brain back on.”

And for this season, Mark is ready to create some seriously amazing dances: “This season I just really want to get in there and keep my head down, get creative and do some great work.”

Dancing With the Stars returns Monday, September 18th on ABC.

Will Mark Ballas Return For 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 25? He Says...

Mark Ballas has only been gone from the Dancing With The Stars ballroom for two seasons, but yet, we seriously miss him!

The pro dancer and musician caught up with ET recently and revealed that you shouldn’t hold your breath for his return for season 25.

“Not at this point,” he shared. “I mean, never say never, but it’s a little early to tell.”

Mark adds that he’s really busy with other important things to consider a return right now — like his new EP with wife BC Jean.

“[BC and I] have been so crazy with the EP, the touring, Jersey Boys,” he adds. “That was like a full time commitment, you know? Especially with vocal discipline.”

Mark also says that being on DWTS didn’t leave him with much of a social life.

“I had no life,” he says. “Six shows a week, 27 songs a night, that was like my focus, and then our music as well. So, we’re kind of just here at the moment. We’ll see.”

Still, we’re hoping he does come back one day!

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas will forever be one of our favorite DWTS teams — which is why we’re melting over Chelsea‘s newest Instagram.

The Baby Daddy actress posted a sweet note for Mark after going to opening night of Jersey Boys in LA, which Mark stars as Frankie Valli.

“Oh, what a night! Beyond proud of my boy @markballas who brought the house down last night as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys,” she wrote.

Chelsea added, “The kid can sing… and I’d like to think I helped him discover his ability to hit all those high notes when I repeatedly crushed his toes during our time together on DWTS. #proudmouse #kanenball.”
