JJJ caught up with the 16-year-old singer a few weeks ago to chat and found out that she’s been tuning into gal pal Charice‘s episodes on Glee!
Nikki shared with us, “I was so proud of her! She’s doing great! It was just really cool to see her up on the [television] screen and she totally deserves this. It’s so neat that they [the creators] based a character on her and I’m just so happy to see her on it.”
When we asked if she herself would ever consider a role on the popular FOX series, Nikki replied, “If they would, I would LOVE to! It’s my favorite TV show. That would be amazing.”
DO YOU THINK Nikki would be a good addition to the Glee cast?
“I’ve always been a huge advocate against bullying because I myself was actually a target all through elementary school I was tormented every day. Not physically but verbally and actually when I was in the 6th grade, we still don’t know who to this day because it was anonymous, but people kept putting gum in my hat – chewed gum. So when I put it on it would get stuck in my hair and they would put it in my boot and I would have to buy new boots because it would get stuck to my sock. I had to go to school everyday living in suspicion of everyone in my class and I was very very very lucky to have a great support system.”
Her advice to others getting bullied: “I learned that you have to know who you are even if you’re unsure of it. You can’t doubt yourself you just have to have confidence and I know that’s easier said then done trust me I know that but you just have to keep your head held high even if you don’t believe it because soon enough you will. I would just say you have to treat it like water off a ducks back and know that all they’re looking for is a reaction and if you don’t give it to them then it will stop.”
The 16-year-old “For Another Day” darling will be broadcasting LIVE from The World Cafe in Philadelphia TOMORROW, October 21 @ 4PM ET/1PM PT. Be sure to RSVP on Facebook and check out Nikki‘s previous chat on Ustream!
Nikki told us about her tour so far, “Honestly, I was very surprised by the audiences because I’m not very known in the US. In Canada, I’ve been singing there for five years and the audience is always very gracious. When I started the tour here, I really didn’t know what to expect because I knew I had to earn a reaction. But the first audience I had were going crazy. It was so cool. They were screaming so loud and I’m not very good at hiding surprise in my face and I was like, ‘Woah!’”
JJJ is super-excited to announce that we are sponsoring Nikki Yanofsky‘s live webchat from The World Cafe in Philadelphia on Thursday, October 21!
We caught up with the 16-year-old singer a couple of weeks ago and chatted about her tour so far.
Nikki shared with us about her stops in Tokyo and Europe, “All of the places we visited were my favorite. But my favorite place with a story would be Mount Hood in Geneva, Switzerland. It looked like heaven on earth. The water was so blue, and it was on a hill. So, so beautiful.”
Nikki Yanofsky has pretty pink lips as she arrives at Canada’s Walk of Fame Induction Gala 2010 outside the Canon Theatre in Toronto on Saturday evening (October 16).
The 16-year-old jazz singer is the first-ever recipient of the Allan Slaight award, which highlights a “young Canadian who is making a positive impact in the fields of music, film, literature, visual or performing arts, sports, innovation or philanthropy.”
Are you ready to chat with Nikki in just FOUR DAYS?! JJJ is sponsoring the chat and is super-excited about it!
