Who’s ready for the premiere of Star-Crossed?!

When Emery Whitehill (Aimee Teegarden) was 6 years old, an alien spacecraft crash-landed in her small town and she met Roman (Matt Lanter), a 6-year old Atrian boy, who sought refuge with her before being taken away by the authorities. Ten years later, the two are reunited as the first group of Atrian teens is about to enroll in high school in a widely scrutinized social experiment to see if humans and Atrians can live in peace.

While the world around them rages with anger and prejudice, the bond between Emery and Roman becomes increasingly strong and increasingly dangerous.

Grey Damon, Titus Makin, Jr., Malese Jow, Chelsea Gilligan, Natalie Hall, and Greg Finley also star in the series.

Matt Lanter gives JJJ the scoop on his upcoming show Star-Crossed in this brand new interview!

The 30-year-old 90210 alum stars as Roman, an Atrian who crash-landed on Earth 10 years ago.

He and six of his Atrian friends are integrated into the public school system, which creates all kinds of drama, especially considering his connection with a human named Emery (Aimee Teegarden).

We caught up with Matt to find out more about his character, the language they speak on the show, the love triangle, and more!

JustJaredJr: Hi Matt! So we’re really excited about the show. We feel like we’ve had to wait so long for it! What’s it like finally getting close to the premiere?

Matt Lanter: It’s exciting. It was almost a year ago that we filmed. To try to contain that for a year was really difficult (laughs). But yeah, it’s coming up and we’re all excited. We shot 13 episodes and it kind of feels like a movie in that sense. It’s like you film for a long time and you have to wait so long before anyone knows about it, and it comes out. We’re excited to share it with everyone and we’re hoping everyone digs it and is as excited as we are.

JJJ: We got a sneak peek at the first two episodes and loved them. The pilot is great, but wow are there some even bigger things going on in episode two! Just when you think one thing, you realize there is a bigger plan at play.

ML: Yeah, absolutely. Our showrunners were telling us some of the stuff that was going to happen very early on and we got episode two, three, four, and there was so much stuff happening. Each episode is so intense and each one has a new revelation. I was thinking to myself, “How can we keep this up for 13 episodes? How do we keep this intensity and energy level up?” But they absolutely do it, amazingly. I think that’s also what is fun about it. You have to really pay attention. Like you said, in episode two, there are a lot of things to get a grasp on and understand. We’re diving into this preexisting world. This is not just a group of friends at a high school or whatever. There’s a lot of complicated, real-world problems and conflicts happening. There are people who are not to be trusted. There are lies, and deception, and political power moves. All kinds of stuff. It’s definitely something you have to pay attention to. Give it a few episodes and you understand the characters, where they come from, and their motivation. You get a better grasp on that. But the intensity level and the revelations…that keeps up. Every episode, there are new things happening.

In the midst of the conflict, Roman (Matt Lanter), a 6-year-old Atrian boy, found his way to a shed behind Emery’s house, where she protected him from harm, bringing him food, comfort � and friendship. In their brief time together, Emery and Roman forged a deep bond, but the authorities wasted no time tracking Roman down and capturing him in a violent confrontation. Emery has grown up believing that Roman was killed that day.

Now, 10 years later, the Atrians have been acclimated to life on Earth, but they are interned in a heavily-guarded camp known as the Sector to keep them separate from humans. Now, for the first time, a group of Atrian teens will enroll in a suburban human high school, with the goal of testing the feasibility of human/alien integration.

Matt Lanter and Aimee Teegarden share a laugh on stage at the panel for their new show Star-Crossed held during the 2014 Television Critics Association Tour at the Langham Hotel on Wednesday (January 15) in Pasadena, Calif.

The actors were joined by their co-star Grey Damon, as well as executive producers Adele Lim, Meredith Averill, Josh Applebaum, and Andre Nemec.

Talking about the alien characters’ tattoos, Averill, shared that “there are some cool features about them” because that’s how they breathe! She added that “no two Atrians have the same [markings].”

Mark your calendars for the premieres of Star-Crossed and The 100 on the CW!

The network just announced that the shows, which were busy filming while Reign and The Tomorrow People premiered, will debut during the spring schedule.

Star-Crossed, starring Aimee Teegarden, Grey Damon and Matt Lanter, will premiere on Monday, February 17th, @8PM.

The 100, with Eliza Taylor, Marie Avgeropoulos and Thomas McDonell, will debut on Wednesday, March 19th, @9PM.

The shows debuts also mean a switch up in the schedule. The biggest hit: Amellsdays!
