Ed Sheeran's 'X' Receives RIAA's 2X Multi-Platinum Award
Ed Sheeran checks out his plaque after receiving the RIAA 2X multi-Platinum award for X earlier in the week.
The 24-year-old musician was joined by RIAA’s EVP of Communications and Marketing Jonathan Lamy and Director of Communications and Gold & Platinum Program, Liz Kennedy at the event.
X is just one of only four albums released since 2014 to achieve RIAA multi-Platinum status, and this also marks Ed’s first multi-Platinum album. The other three are Taylor Swift‘s 1989, Sam Smith‘s In The Lonely Hour, and Adele‘s 25.
The 2x Multi-Platinum record commemorates sales of 2 million in the United States alone.
