JJJ: Over all the seasons, what do you think Callie’s biggest hurdle has been?
Maia: I mean, Callie has a lot of hurdles. I think at the core of everything has been her journey about accepting love and accepting that she has worth, that she is loved and that she deserves happiness. I think a lot of the times when you see her really spiraling, it’s triggered by her inability to accept that. It’s an ongoing thing. She’s been in countless foster homes, she’s been abused physically and sexually; she’s lost parents, she’s been through a lot. And anyone who’s gone through that amount of trauma is going to be working through that their whole lives. So I think it’s just going to be an ongoing thing.
