Katherine McNamara Was So Nervous About Being Accepted as Clary By the 'Shadowhunters' Fandom

It’s hard to believe that someone as cool and confident as Katherine McNamara would ever be nervous, but she was.

Despite being one of the smartest people we know, Katherine admitted in her feature with NKD mag that she was insanely nervous about how the Shadowhunters fandom would react to her being cast as Clary Fray!

There was only about 10 minutes in between when she was cast as Clary and the whole world knowing it through social media.

“They tell me the news and during those ten minutes, it hit me suddenly that the entire fandom was about to find out and I started to wonder, ‘What are they going to think?’ Are they going to accept me? Are they going to be happy with this choice? What’s going to be their reaction?’”

The result? The fandom LOVED her, obviously!

“My phone was literally vibrating off the table,” Kat remembers after. “The warm welcome that the fandom gave all of us was so incredible. It put us all at ease a little bit.”
