China Anne McClain Admits She Was Scared Coming Into 'Descendants 2' (Exclusive)

China Anne McClain stars as Uma in Descendants 2, a villain with a sweet side who was not featured in the first film.

We talked with her about what it was like joining a cast that was already so tight-knit.

“It’s a very established cast, Descendants,” she told JJJ. “I mean, everybody loves the first film, so it was really scary walking into the first day of rehearsal. We had three weeks of rehearsal before we shot anything.”

Fortunately, despite being admittedly “scared,” the cast welcomed her with open arms.

“Some of them I already knew and some I was getting to know and they made me feel like part of the family from the very first day,” she explained.

She also told us that the first person she interacted with on-set was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Kenny Ortega.
