5 Seconds of Summer Says Writing 'Want You Back' Was 'Very Free Flowing'

5 Seconds of Summer chill out at the SiriusXM studios with an adorable dog in New York City earlier this week.

The guys — Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin, Calum Hood and Luke Hemmings — performed their new single, “Want You Back” in the studio, as well as a cover of Zedd, Grey and Maren Morris‘ new track, “The Middle”.

Speaking with Radio.com later on, the band opened up about how writing their new single was for them.

“It was quite an organic procedure writing it, the process wasn’t strenuous; it was very free flowing,” Calum shared. “It was actually the last song we wrote over the one and a half year process of writing the record, so it was very relieving to hit the jackpot at the end.”
