Ariana Grande Has Been Manifesting Playing Glinda In 'Wicked' For Years!

Ariana Grande and Glinda are a match made in literal heaven!

In case you missed it, the 28-year-old actress and singer was just announced as having the role in the highly-anticipated Wicked movie adaptation, alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

Ariana‘s name has not only been thrown around to be in the Wicked movie for years, but she’s also been manifesting herself!

Right after her casting, an old 2011 tweet of hers was resurfaced, where she expressed that Glinda was a dream role.

“Loved seeing Wicked again… amazing production! Made me realize again how badly I want 2 play Glinda at some point in my life! #DreamRole,” Ariana wrote.

Then, in 2013 during a radio interview with Kidd Kraddick In The Morning, she again, reiterated that she would love to play Glinda.

“I think that Elphaba’s singing part would be more fun, singing-wise, but I think I’m more of a [Glinda],” she told the radio host.

That same year, Ariana even teamed up with Mika for “Popular Song,” which samples the famous song “Popular” that Glinda sings in Wicked.

Throughout the years, Ariana, who actually got her start in the musical 13 on Broadway in 2008, has sung songs from Wicked on social media, at various concert events and more.

Most recently, she took part in the Wicked 15th anniversary special, A Very Wicked Halloween, in 2018, where she sang “The Wizard and I.” If you didn’t know, that song is actually sung by Elphaba in the show. Listen below!

After her casting in the upcoming movie was announced, original Wicked stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth have both shared their congratulations.

“Congrats to two amazing women. May it change your lives for the better forever and ever as it has for us. So much love. @cynthiaerivo @arianagrande 💚💖,” Idina wrote.

“I’m not sure if I’ve ever been this proud. From the very first day I met you (swipe to see!!), you were destined for this role. Congratulations @arianagrande! The best Glinda you will be with @cynthiaerivo by your side 💗💚 I love you!! 🧚‍♀️👑🪄 @wickedmovie @wicked_musical #wicked,” Kristin shared.

If you somehow didn’t know, Ariana and Kristin go WAY back, as the pop star saw Wicked on Broadway years ago and got to meet Kristin at the stage door.

They have since worked together in Hairspray Live on NBC, and just very recently on The Voice, where Kristin was Ariana‘s battle rounds advisor.

The Wicked movie is said to begin production in June 2022 in the UK.
