Shawn Mendes To Voice Title Character In Upcoming 'Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile' Movie!

Shawn Mendes is getting into acting!

It was just announced that the 23-year-old singer/songwriter has been cast to voice the titular character in the upcoming Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile movie adaptation, Deadline reveals.

The movie is based on the book of the same name by Bernard Waber, and follows Lyle, who “enjoys helping the Primm family with everyday chores and playing with the neighborhood kids. He’s the happiest crocodile any home ever had — until one neighbor insists that Lyle belongs in a zoo. Mr. Grumps and his cat, Loretta, don’t like crocodiles, and everything Lyle does to win them over seems to go wrong. It will take all of Lyle’s charm — and courage — to reveal the hero, and friend, behind the big crocodile smile.”

Also starring in the film are Winslow Fegley, Javier Bardem and Constance Wu.

Shawn actually worked on original songs for the movie, alongside the movie’s executive producers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who wrote music for Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman and more.
