Henry Cavill Reacts to Being 'Twilight' Author Stephenie Meyer's 'Perfect Edward'

Henry Cavill just recently found out that he was considered the “perfect Edward” for Twilight author Stephenie Meyer!

The role ultimately went to Robert Pattinson of course, but the Superman actor was her first choice.

“The most disappointing thing for me is losing my perfect Edward. Henry Cavill is now 24 years old. Let us have a moment of quiet in which to mourn…” she initially said years ago.

In a recent interview, Henry reacted to the idea that he was her perfect Edward.

See what he said inside…

“I didn’t know about them wanting to cast me and the internet wasn’t quite the tool that it is now,” he said on Josh Horowitz‘s Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I only found out afterwards. I was like, ‘Oh okay, that would have been cool.’”

He also shared that he doesn’t feel a rivalry with Robert, because he “didn’t know about the movie.”

“I didn’t know about them wanting to cast me and the internet wasn’t quite the tool that it is now and so I only found out afterwards,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh okay, that would have been cool.’”

“Essentially, I got close to a bunch of stuff and didn’t get it, but it’s funny that people think that’s a bad thing,” Henry added. “In Hollywood — or in the acting industry — everyone’s trying to get a role and they’re not necessarily getting them. And so, to get an opportunity to be in the limelight by missing out on the big roles is actually a good thing as opposed to a bad thing. And I count my lucky stars for each one of those.”

If you missed it, this superstar was turned down a role in the second Twilight film, New Moon.

There was a first script that really failed for the Twilight movie adaptation, and it would have been VERY different.
