'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Season 4 Features End Credits Scene In Finale - Don't Miss It!

If you’re like us, you may have nearly missed out on a very special scene that was featured at the very end of the last episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!

This is your warning to stick around AFTER the credits in episode eight of the Disney+ series’ fourth and final season.

SPOILERS below for the series finale and the end credits scene…

While the credits begin to roll, there’s an option to skip the credits.

After the credits finish, we see Kate Reinders, who plays Miss Jenn of course, sitting at a mirror on the side of a stage. In the background, you hear, “And Katie, go.”

She gets up, walks past her cast chair, and passes through into another room where the young cast – Liamani Segura, Saylor Bell, Sofia Wylie, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein, Dara Renee and Adrian Lyles are all standing around a piano with Joe Serafini sat ready to play.

As she gets closer, Joe begins to play the opening notes of “For Good” from the Broadway musical Wicked.

To add context, (spoiler alert!) earlier in the season, it’s revealed that Miss Jenn auditioned many times to play Glinda in Wicked on Broadway, and even met Alyson Reed (Ms Darbus from the OG movies) at a callback audition. Then, in the final episodes, Miss Jenn gets a letter from the show’s National Broadway Tour company with an offer to join the touring cast, and she spends most of the final two episodes debating if she’s going to accept.

If you didn’t know, and for even more context, Kate actually DID play Glinda in Wicked on Broadway, from 2006-2007.

Back to the finale end credits scene, Kate then begins to sing the first verse of “For Good,” with Frankie being the next to pick up on the second verse when Elphaba comes in. The rest of the cast joins throughout the rest of the song.

Right before the credits rolled, the East High students decided to go to Denny’s after their show, which is a common thing that real life theater students do to celebrate their shows. Wicked is also, of course, a very well known musical amongst high school theater students, with many seniors performing “For Good” before saying goodbye to high school.

Of the finale, creator and showrunner Tim Federle told Vanity Fair, “All season long, Joshua Bassett was bringing this camcorder onto set. So when we did ‘Born to Be Brave’ in the limo, that really is Josh shooting his friends on his camcorder. I hope someday Josh releases “the Bassett cut.” I thought it was such a beautiful thing that the final footage of the season, other than the Denny’s sign and post-credit sequence we do, was shot by the leading man who really helped give the show its voice—which is Joshua Bassett, the first person hired. It’s touching to see that and think back to season one, when the kids were just getting to know each other and they’d be singing these Kumbaya songs and I was like, ‘I am the luckiest person in the world because of this cast.’”
